What would make you play CoD again?

I never stopped. It never stopped being a good game. I didn't go out of my way to get Ghosts very soon after it released, but that's it.

I actually would prefer they would go back in time like World War 1, instead of diving into further modernised fighting with drones and other gimmicks.
With that being said, I keep thinking that if somehow they could make a COD version of Valient Hearts, I'd totally pick it up.

If someone handed a copy to me. Mindless shooting is mildly fun, worth an install, definitely will keep me entertained for the duration of the singleplayer.

Oh, but to buy it?

Like many people here, I don't like its multiplayer. At all, in fact. The skill ceiling will always be limited to who shoots who first, dedicated servers still aren't a thing, PC ports blow, teamplay is not encouraged, death is meaningless. I've heard Advanced Warfare made some very good attempts at fixing those problems (the movement in that game looks fun), but even with a fixed multiplayer I still would spend most time in singleplayer. And as everyone will repeat, a rather mindless campaign that typically lasts six hours is not worth the price.

Zombies is fun, campaign has an appeal to play through every once in a while, but if I want the 2edgy4me modern war shooting I'd load up Battlefield 4.

For CoD? maybe if it had a longer more interesting single player. I've said it before on here but I'm a casual PvPer. I don't buy games just for multiplayer. If it has multiplayer and it's decent I will probably play it but chances are most of my time will be in single player. Not that I necessarily think CoD should do this, it is primarily a multi-player shooter and that is fine.

No EA, this dose not mean I want multi-player shoehorned into every game.

I don't hate Assassin Creed but I use to play it and then went off it about a quarter of the way through Revelations (still haven't finished it). Honestly I don't know if there is anything they could do to bring me back, maybe if they hit on a story and setting that just looks very appealing to me. I'm bored of this series and I don't know if they can really add anything new game-play wise (short of re-hauling the whole thing) that's going to change that.

WORLD.WAR.TWO.

I can honestly say that the last COD game that I had fun with was World at War. I can't help but being part of a great army rather than the chosen one that must defeat the ultimate evil (at least until next year). Things were easier back then, and as much as people want to be special, they weren't. What mattered was that you showed up to battle and got the job done; if you lucked out, you still had an awesome army that was going to carry on without you (or at least until you restarted the level).

I also like the violence, gore, and dialogue that went on throughout the campaigns and matches (the Russian dialect was my favorite, comrades). Everything now is money and stupid death animations.

I can't say that nothing will be as interesting or unique as WW2 (I'll admit that I actually liked COD 4: Modern Warfare), but for me, it's just an expensive, over-hyped multiplayer that's trying to do something different each year while simultaneously releasing a very familiar game with a tacked-on narrative campaign.

As someone who has always been indifferent to the CoD and seems to only play any if the CoDs whenever I'm with friends and/or my cousins in general, the only way for me to play more of the CoD is if it came with a free splitscreen co-op/multiplayer buddy at all times...

Other than that, the only way you will get me to play more open-world sandbox-based games is if they starred more anthropomorphic humans and/or creatures...

If it actually went down in price. Sure, this isn't something that Activision or any of the CoD devs can deal with, but I am super interested in CoD: AW because I am happy that a mainstream series like CoD is starting to go down the path of fast-paced FPS games with a lot of verticality and a lot of movement, but knowing that the game isn't going to get a price cut for at least a few more years puts me off. I am curious, but I am not curious enough to buy it for full price.

When it comes to CoD, I would probably never play online due to a crummy internet connection/internet stability. I have played a few CoD games though and am open to playing more but I wouldn't buy a CoD on day one and I certainly wouldn't pay full price for one. The last one that I did buy was about the price of a pizza and that's about what I'd pay for my next one...the two on the Wii U are about that range too and I'm considering getting one or the other when I get my tax return.

Completely rewinding back to the first CoD and going for more WW2 extensive single-player campaigns in that old style. Where you're a soldier. Just a soldier. In a war. Not some superman spec ops guy running about saving the world from the high-tech terrorists. Frankly I haven't been able to take a CoD seriously since it went to "Modern Warfare". In fact I consider them to outright not even be CoD games. CoD is a WW2 shooter series to me, Modern Warfare is an entirely different spinoff. WaW was a commendable attempt to revitalise it but...frankly it felt VERY flawed and poorly designed; it never sat right with me as a game.

I don't think the MW games are terrible, I've got up to the third of the series (cheaply) and they play alright and the first one was somewhat compelling (since it was the closest to actual CoD games). But to me they're ultimately not really CoD.

Also CoD:UO had some of the finest multiplayer around of the time. (As a somewhat more controversial opinion I actually prefer the very original game over CoD2.)

I don't know if any of this has happened, buuut:
Gender select custom characters in all modes.
A fulfilling co-op.
Worthwhile bot play with co-op outside of zombies mode with bot balancing so I can game with as many, or as few people as I want.

Basically Rainbow Six Vegas 1, and 2, but with CoD gameplay. Plus Zombies.

A 90% discount on Steam?

Seriously, those games never seem to go down in price and very rarely go on sale. They are overpriced to begin with, considering how much is recycled from game to game.

That said, I don't hate them. But for me, they're in the bottom rung of quality shooters. While perfectly playable and enjoyable in their own right, if you've played one, you have pretty much played all of them.

But a good co-op mode certainly wouldn't go amiss. I never cared for the zombie modes, but something like Spec Ops in MW2 with persistent character progression (Like the multiplayer) would be nice.

Release Cod: Zombies and with an unchanged MW2 multiplayer and I'll buy it.
Just have around 5 zombie maps and a few of the ones from previous games. If you really want tack on some story mode to introduce the zombies.

I'd pay full price for it when half the game is already made. How hard can 5 zombie maps be to make?
