Jesus Christ did exist. An Arabic Jew, born to a carpenter, and grew up as on of many religious prophets at the time.
Thinking this person would come back, is as ludicrous as thinking anyone else who's already dead would come back (not unheard of though. Enough ppl still believe Elvis is alive for it to be noticeable, but anyone reasonable would dismiss it at ludicrous).
But yeah, "let's pretend the christians were right, about everything" (Because obviously, if you have evidence for a single part of your claim, then obviously since you already believe it's all connected, it's enough to prove the rest of your claim - [end sarcasm]).
I would question this guy and everything he stands for. I would also demand he stop using the "trinity" excuse to not let me heavily question the other guy (his daddy, but also himself-oh! And they have a pet ghost that makes them whole when their powers are uni- You know what? I really don't understand even if I try to use concepts I'm already familiar with from other works of fiction). Because that guy (part?) needs to be questioned and challenged too.
For me, being an athiest means more than just not believing religions because they have no evidence to back them up. It also means you question everything about the logic of both the stories, the teaching, and current practices. It means, that should any of them ever be proven right, you don't just lay down and start worshipping.
No!Most of the most popular monotheistic religions include gods who act against basic human rights, and are little more than tyrannical mass murderers. You don't worship people like that. You fight them! (Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials-style!)
