You're walking down the street and you find a wallet. You pick it up and open it. It has one thousand dollars in it.

What do you do?

If someone is walking around with $1000 in their wallet, they deserve to have it stolen.

... But I'd probably let my conscience get the better of me.

Does the wallet have any form of identification? Is it in a crowded area where it has some sort of place that I can contact a lost and found area? If not I'd first take it to a bank to make sure it was legit.

Lets say it has an identity BUT it's been cut in half...
Don't ask why..

I wouldn't look in the wallet. Temptation is your worst enemy. My wallet can be unfolded to reveal my ID where i have numbers under my id so i would find that but wouldn't look where the money actually was. I would return it to the cops or whatever store that its front of, as long as its a legitmate looking store.(not a bodega) I found a wallet in a food lion parking lot and I just walked in and gave it to the customer service people because the person is gonna come back if there wasn't a number inside.

I would return the wallet to the owner, because losing all of that identification stuff is a real pain. He would most likely give me 50 or 100 bucks, and if he didn't, well....I know where he lives now.

If it has an ID, I'd return it.
If not, I'd donate it to the Child's Play charity under Jack Thompson's name and see what he'd do about it.

Living in the UK as I do, I'd take the money, because it's never getting claimed.

I'd very quickly have it converted into Sterling though.

If the ID's readable, I'd return it and the money.

If there's no way to identify whose wallet it is, I'm trashing the wallet and keeping the cash.
