I really like mario kart. It's fun and has tons of lasting appeal. With a new mario kart being one of the launch titles for the 3ds, I'd like to see what my fellow escapists want to see in the next mario kart. Tell what tracks you want in the retro cups (I want to see luigi's mansion-MKDS, dry dry desert-MKDD, daisy cruiser-MKDD, waluigi pinball-MKDS, toad's factory-MKWii, koopa kape-MKWii, and yoshi valley-MK64), what gameplay features or modes you want to see return (I want Special items and tricks), and what characters you want to see (I want Fawfull, Magikoopa and Count Bleck). You can put as much or as little as you want. Mention what game the tracks were origionally from.

I really haven't loved one since Super Mario Kart. They all just started getting way too complicated and busy. I liked the simplicity of the original, and I played it until my thumbs cramped and my had was shaped like a Super Nintendo controller. Since then, I haven't really been a fan.

IMO, Mario Kart DS was the best Mario Kart. Also anyone who says "The original was the best" really needs to go replay the series...I own it, love it, but it honestly does not age well. It is hilarious when you are drunk though.
As far as maps go:

Luigi's Mansion
Tick Tock Clock
Peach Gardens
Ghost Airship
Most anything from the N64

I also want to see them keep the difficulty settings like the DS version. The reason it is my favourite in the series, asides from the maps, is that you can set the difficulty of the racers and I still get beat sometimes. The wii version was waaaaay too easy. After running through the game once on ever CC I was pretty much unstoppable without even trying which made it less fun.

Also damnit give me a shyguy character already.

I've always like the rapid mushroom, where you had to keep pressing "z" to go faster.

(that's the sound Toad makes when you use it)

I loved the original battles in the first Mario Kart as well as the N64 version. So much fun.

As a racing game, its okay I guess. Its no F-Zero, that is for sure.

Red shells FTW!

Probably the blue shell. I always seem to constantly be in second the whole race when my friends band together for some split-screen action, so to use it just as ryan hits the final stretch does give me a little satisfaction.

I actually found the ds version to be the easiest i've played. Don't get me wrong, I love that game and the maps are really good but it didn't seem as hectic and crazy as other titles in the franchise. It felt somewhat relaxed. I actually find the wii version pretty hard due to the insanity. Oh and I agree shuyguy should be playable.

I only played Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, but the thing I liked about both games is that you could play with a bunch of friends, and everyone (as long as they knew the controls) could have an equal chance of winning. Plus battle mode was fun. MK64 really improved things with the 4-player um... play.

Double Dash is the one I'm most familiar with, and I love it. My friends and I play it religiously when we get together, and there's just SO much cursing, rage, and violence.

Features I'd like to see; drift boosting, specials, and the Boo-Splatter-Thingee (I really can't place that one... think it was from the Wii?).

I'd really like to see Mario Kart bring back doubling up on one kart ala Double Dash. Apart from being a great way to play with four players without splitting the screen four ways, it was just incredibly fun to work cooperatively (or not) with your buddy to try and mess up the other guys.

I'd also like to see N64 Rainbow Road in the retro cup. It's my favorite iteration of the course, just behind the GCN version.

Uhm... lets see. Well the only one I've played was double dash, and I just played it for an hour or two so I don't remember much of it. The tracks were nice.

The closer they make it to the DS version, the better. I HATE the NGC and Wii versions because they don't reward you for good racing. If you are ahead, you are going to get pummeled to death with last place getting blue shells and lightning bolts. I don't mind the items themselves, but there needs to be balance. I feel like I spend 2/3rd of every race catching up and 1/3 of the time just spinning out from unavoidable items hitting me. Add in the course hazards and it just becomes pure un-fun for me.

You know, if they had some more standard-type courses with very few pitfalls, I think the NGC and Wii versions could have been a lot more fun. Instead you have to find this unfriendly balance between knowing the track by heart to not crash into anything and still maintaining enough speed to win while being hit by too many items.

That brings me to another thought. Because of the item systems, I hate using the heavy class racers. In the SNES version, they were kinda your advance class, where if you could control them, they were leagues better than the lightweights. But woe be you if you messed up at all. In the new MKs, there is no hope for avoiding being hit because you just can't avoid blue shells. With their slow acceleration, you may as well as stick with lighter karts because it won't be long before you get hit again and your acceleration is the only thing that is going to keep you in the lead.

Lastly, I want to see ALL tracks in one MK for once. It's not like they are running low on storage space theses days. Maybe not for the 3DS, but it would have made me a little happier for the Wii version if I had that choice.

At the moment, I would kill for Geno. It's probably never going to happen, but it would be nice. Maybe there could even be a Geno's Forest track.

Miss the skill > luck element that hit it's peak on the N64. Can't wait for the return to using ACTUL KARTS in the 3DS version, i can't wait for release day on the 3DS.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit was the best one for me, I loved that game and it's probably the GBA game I put the most time into.

Having said that - Dino Jungle from Double Dash is my favourite circuit :)

The best thing about it is that nobody takes it too seriously. You don't see people on the internet complaining that red shells should be nerfed.
