Whatever happened to Croc

So what did happen to Croc? It was SUCH a good game (feel free to disagree). Are there any sequels in the making, what did you other people think of Croc?

Croc was the sh!t. But if there was anything that killed him or put him in a coma, it'll probably be hitting a wall because of his sucky tank turning skills.

Croc pioneered the 3D platforming genre, then got abducted by every platform game designer on the planet, who proceeded to harvest him for platforming elements.

Seriously though can you name a 3d platforming game on the PS1 that isn't like Croc?

Honestly, what has happened to alot of these Platforming mascott once superstars? Besides those part of the familly known as Nintendo (Sega included), they seem to have dissapeared. Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Blinx, Croc, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank and etc... It seems like they've all dissapeared... or is that just me and my inherrently odd tempo and sense of the passage of time?

Yeah, I've played one Croc game (Croc 2). And, to be honest, about half way through I stopped caring about anything going on in the game let alone how this would progress as a franchise (and this was little over a decade ago when I was about 9... I'm 19 now, since you ask). The story was shit, and the gameplay was ripping off other franchises (in order): Tomb Raider (platforming), Super Mario Bros. (how you actually kill people), and of course, Super Mario Kart (those bloody awful racing sequences that kept coming back every now and then).

I liked Croc years ago, but it would probably be a pain to play today. Looking back, it was pretty standard, only with tank controls, which is bad.

He can sometimes be spotted drunk and drugged up scavaging bins. Sometimes he is seen with other failed platforming mascots such as Alex Kidd shouting at Nintendo buildings about "Stealing Ideas" etc

Aww, poor Croc, I miss the game too!! There was always something you missed in a level, which made the backtracking worthwhile once you had the skills/lives neccessary to fight through the more complicated sections.

Never really liked the second one though, all the add-ins and random gimmicks killed the feel of the first one. I don't think anyone on my family (at the time, I moved mind you) got past the first few levels of the second world (the snowy place).

Crock was an insipid pile of derivative nonesense. Why did you pick his particular corpse from the mountain of dead generic 3-d platformer characters? Leave him to rot, or better yet make a games carry case out of his hide-that way he'll make a useful contribution to gaming.
