Well, there certainly are plenty of conflicts to use. Eliminate all those without guns... and all those with guns that wouldn't be fun to use (muskets, etc) and you still have a pretty big list to chose from. So I'd say... World War 2.
Was that a joke?

As long as they get rid of the flaws of the first one I am not to fussed were they set it, maybe a time when there were no noob tubers ... a guy can dream, can't he?

Although that would mean that antique shotguns would have a place there.

Here's the thing though. WW2 hasn't been done to death. The Normandy, Ardennes forest and Stalingrad/Leningrad thing has been done to death. North Africa too if you count the amount of time MoH spent there across the series. That still leaves bucket loads of stuff that has either been skimmed over or not even looked at.

What about the fall of France? Norway? Italy? Greece? Borneo? Indo-china? There were also a whole load of 'sub' conflicts going on around the periphary of the USSR (Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Finland - the Soviets and the British even invaded Iran at one point and replaced the pro-Nazi Shah with his pro-Allied brother). The Soviets also spent the last few weeks of WW2 tearing into the Japanese in the Far East. There's a ton of mileage left in WW2 shooters, if only developers would stop trying to top each others' renditions of D-Day.

To be fair though, I would enjoy pretty much any decent FPS that tries to at least keep one foot in the real world. Sci-fi type shooters hold no interest for me in general though. I got bored of Resistance 2 half way through. Killzone too.

Also, more flamethrowers please!

What the hell is this? Nobody has said it yet? Fine.

Call of Duty: FUTURE WARFARE
it's like MW2 except, instead of bullets, there are lasers!

Ooo vietnam would be good. I'd go with either that (I hope it would be like Vietcong) or a Futuristic one.

One of the perks will include spending a longer time at the water cooler.

Maybe a better story where not every terrorist with a AK can nuke major cities all over the world....

Like I said no GOOD vietnam game has been made. They both sucked wang chan buddy, Veitcong was retard to the point I expect zombies at the end and Battlefield was that, 1942 with hills and more trees but no jungle.

GOOD GAME. See that? Good...not two steaming turds.

Y'know Vietnam might actually be a bad idea, cause it's gonna be from a US soldiers point of view right? But the US lost that war so why would they make a game if at the end of the campaign it screws you over?
That'd be a more dramatic ending than all the other war games where it just says you win at the end.

An untimely demise. Or an awful lot more of mediocre FPS experiences. I've yet to see anything substantially interest. MW2's story had me looking at my fingers up until the point where:

You have to pull the knife out of your chest

Which made my jaw drop. Otherwise, the story was all over the place, and the multiplayer was just ruined by glitchers, modders, lack of patches, and the list goes on.

I want a good CoD online experience. PLEASE.

It's not. The people that made Dead Space have another one in production for after Treyarch's next effort with it.
