The incredible amount of stories, and so many mediums to absorb them through.

People are capable of great acts of selfless kindness and compassion.
Beaches exist within five minutes' walk of my house and the weather is often good enough to make going worthwhile.
With the right setup and opportunities, you can do almost anything you really want to do.
The world seems to be surprisingly resilient at micro and macro levels.
Boobs and bacon are both quite nice.

Props to the OP for this thread.

Music, really. The idea that a bunch of people can get together and work in unison to create what is simply beautiful without any practical purpose is pretty awesome.

For me it's manga, anime, jrpgs, video games (even ones I don't like I acknowledge as bringing something to the electronic media culture), Sci-fi, fantasy and Sci-fi/fantasy novels, and looking forward to the christmas holidays.
Am I the only one who was relatively resistant to the negativity of the other thread until they read this rampant appeal to commercialist escapism as the source of one's opinion of value in the world?

I mean... F**k! If this is what's right with the world, we might as well just give up now. All of that is escapism. None of that has anything to do with this world. It's all about running away from this world.

It would do you good to exclude yourself from these things for at least a month and to see if it's possible to find anything else. Walks in the forest or swimming in a glacial lake? Visiting an art gallery? Playing football with a group of friends? Having an MRI brain scan for the sake of psychological research? Debating the nature of politics, whether over a pint or with a club of interested participants?

There is so much that's good in this world that doesn't involve jumping outside it for release. Hopefully you might get the chance to appreciate that.

Well, we've never had a higher percentage of humanity literate, we've never had a higher proportion of us well fed, we've never been this wealthy, we've never been this free, and as most of the wrold has adopted the free market we have the flexibility which means we are unlikely to get stuck at a certain technological level like the feudal or communist states did.

Breasts.

Those are nice.

...

What?! They are. Most of them. Some of them.

Stop looking at me like that.
They sure are, aren't they?

Sometimes there's nothing wrong with simply saying, "I love breasts".

Also, cheese/onion bread, electric heaters, and beds... Hmmmmmmmm.

Most people put Bill O'reilly, and Bill Maher on the same level as internet trolls, so there's that. Also am I the only one that's noticed that they're basically the EXACT SAME PERSON just ones a Right-wing dipshit, and the others a Left-wing dipshit. And they look kinda of similar and I don't think anyone's ever seen them in the same room at the same time. Is there a fucked up Tyler Durden relationship going on between them?
That was totally a Family Guy episode! Except it was Michael Moore and Rush Limbaugh...
Interesting I don't like Michael Moore, and I've never seen or heard anything that Rush Limbaugh has done and I don't care to. I don't like Family Guy, however I do know the episode you're talking about, but that has nothing to do with my observation, and also it was an actor in costumes so it doesn't really apply. So that still leaves my question. Is there some weird Tyler Durden shit going on here?!?!

Bubble wrap of course! And bacon! Animals, the natural wonders of the world, and all the millions of good humans out there, that is what is right in the world to me. Oh and gaming and my wonderful family. Also my fluffy slippers that make the six hours of travelling for university worth while, just knowing that I can come home and get a huge greeting from my dogs and then I can put the slippers on makes everything better.

Whats right with this world is for once I have a woman in my life that makes me happy and I know that I am not the only one who is this lucky.
