Current:

Best- PS3 (Lightweight, virtually every version is chargeable and wireless unless bought from a different company)

Worst- Xbox and Xbox360 (Bulkier, weighs more, and the design makes it uncomfortable to hold the controller with all four Index/Pointing fingers on the shoulder and trigger buttons. Also seems to be a rip-off of the PS2/PS3 controller in a way, not a bad thing, but it feels like Microsoft just took the PS2 controller and re-arranged most of it. Another downside is that about 50% of Xbox controllers aren't re-chargeable and require batteries, though it can be fixed by buying a rechargeable battery pack.)

Older:

Best: NES (Simplistic beyond all reason, only about 2-4 buttons aside from the D-pad, and the majority of gamers young and old have probably held one of those bad boys in their hand's at one time or another)

Worst: Nintendo64 (...wha?...how?...which way do I hold this?...WHO THE F*** DESIGNED THIS!!!!!!!!!)

xbox 360 best for me

i dont have a worst really...perhaps dreamcast?

but i wanted to mention that i hate the triggers on the ps3 remotes...

they are so doughy and annoying...

playing an fps on them is frustrating for me..

other wise they are good...it might be because i am used to the clickier feel of xbox360 buttons and triggers

I like both the xbox 360 and ps3 controllers. I can hold either comfortably, although occasionally parts of my hand can fall asleep with the dualshock controllers.

I have normal sized hands, but I still preferred the original xbox controller over the s model. I played GTA San Andreas and KOTOR 1and 2 with it just fine with it on my lap. All my friends those day loved the s model controllers, while the s model gave me hand cramps.. so no one argued when I volunteered to use my roommate's old controller during our halo sessions.

Of course N64 had the worst controller. The shape, button layout, and fragility of it made it terrible.

BEST: 360- the bumpers and triggers are convient and comfortable. The two thumb sticks feel natural, and work well with the location of the D-pad and buttons.

WORST: Wii- Am I suppose to use the 1, 2, +, and - buttons regularly? If so, why are they a pain to use.

OT: Is it just me or does the Wiimote look like a sex toy

Best- Dualshock 2. It would be the Dualshock 3 but for the triggers that are very easy to activate accidentally when you put it down.

Worst- Wiimote. It's just... terrible. And bad.

None of the games I have require them to be used regularly, but they're still a pain in the ass.

Best: Xbox 360. I like the layout and it's balanced nicely.

Worst: PS3. It's too damn small, weighs nothing and just feels flimsy. Oh and I hate the triggers.

Best: don't know. I like the PS3 controller and my old gamecube controllers though.

Worst:

Seriously, it looks cool but how the heck is that supposed to be comfortable?

Best: Sega Saturn for the D-pad, PS2 for analog.

Worst: Those crazy NES controllers like the power glove,

The worst modern controller around have gotta be those PS2 clones that Logiteck and Saitek make for the PC. They can cost £30 - £35 and are cheap and tacky with d-pads that dont even work properlly. My current PS2 Clone by GameWare only cost me £16 and is a much better control pad.

Best: XBOX360 controller.
Worst: All dualshocks.
This is not a bash on the PS3, I just take issue with the way my thumbs bump into eachother all the time.

Best: Gamecube.
The feeling is absolutely flawless in my hands. I am very pleased that the Wii is compatible.

Worst:

Seriously? The thing is massive, the black and white buttons are awkwardly placed, and I can hardly get my hands around the damn thing.

Terrible design. Just awful.

Wired 360 controllers are my favourite, followed closely by Dualshock.
Of course, N64 controllers were terrible and must be my least favourite that I have ever used.

I had this problem, but solved it by getting a mini version that was released. I don't know who made it but it was a godsend. Literally half the size of the regular and the black/white buttons were moved around a bit to make them easier to use.

Best: Gamecube.

Worst: Playstation 3 because the shoulder buttons are broken, 2 was way better.

Best: 360 Pad
It fits in my hand well, good weight, sticks have great tension (at least when they're new). Only downside is the sticks tend to get really loose or start to "stick" after 6-9 months of heavy usage. I go through about 1 a year playing CoD and fighting games.

Worst: Wiimote
It started the casual gaming motion control craze, something that has ruined Nintendo for me forever.
