What's the game that scared you the most?

For me its the fatal frame series because the game puts you in search mode and the ghosts comes out only after a while. Plus the game messes with your mind by showing something in one viewpoint (i.e. a little girl) and its only a short time for the view until you go to another viewpoint so you decided to go back and the little girl isn't there anymore...

Fatal Frame 2 *shivers*

I don't know why the majority of us think that Ravenholm was all that scary. It annoyed me more than it scared me. Especially trying to play it with only the gravity gun - that's just frustrating.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

Early in the game, the part which is based on The Dunwhich Horror, there's a part where you have to barricade yourself in your hotel room & escape.

Just the sheer terror of having to screw the lock to the door, push shelves in front of the door, make your escape was too much for me & I could only attempt that level a few times in a row before I had to play another game!

It's a very scary scenario from the master of horror, which was actually enhanced by being a level in a video game, since unlike the book, you could die & were entirely responsible for the fate of your character. No other game has conveyed the sense of panic & terror that I got from playing that game.
That was incredibly intense; especially seeing so you had no weapons! I think that scene was taken out of Shadow Over Innsmouth though.

The part in Indigo Prophecy where you're in the mental institution, the lights go off, and you're trying to get out alive. Having a psychotic killer standing just inches away from you, slowly creeping by while trying to control Carla's breathing, is some seriously scary shit.
