Whats with all the Killzone hate?

I'm curious as to why so many people here hate Killzone 2.

I personally feel it is a great game, in terms of atmosphere and gameplay. Story and voice acting aren't that great, but I really don't understand why there is such a massive backlash against this game.

Can some of the haters and critics clarify this for me?

I think it's because of how over-hyped the graphics were. I also didn't really like the way the guns felt.

People hate everything. Just provide a good arguement against any point they try to make and eventually they will fill up so much with rage and explode when they see it isnt going their way.

Killzone 2 is a good enough game btw. Except for the assault class.

Well, I can see that the whole "weighty gun" thing could be a turn off. I found a way to fix that, by slightly tweaking the analog stick sensitivity.

Theres nothing wrong with the weighty gun. Its not exactly unrealistic for a guy wearinga tonne of armour and holding a big ass gun to not be the swiftest guy in the world

There's been Killzone hate? Where? I haven't noticed any, I in fact have heard no single person talk about Killzone 2. Perhaps i'm just not noticing.

I'm sorry but as a fan of the Halo series, I win on seeing my game hated.

OT: I have never played the games, so I couldn't say for myself. Who cares though? Do you really need us to clarify every time someone disagrees with you?

I think it's because the original Killzone was labelled as a:
'Halo Killer'
And then fell two steps behind that mark and got burried in the race, ever since then whenever Killzone gets compared to Halo even being at one point called 'Sony's Halo'. As a result it is instantly considered a rip off or attempt to match up against other popular shooters and people tend to judge games like that harshly, it's not even so much to do with the comment about Halo it's just that when someone arrogantly says they can totally kill this other popular game it gets negative attention and causes people to get very dissapointed with it very quickly.
I don't think it's fair to still blame Killzone 2 but it is possible that a lot of people just didn't like it because it wasn't really their thing, besides Yahtzee hated Killzone 2 enough to not even make a proper review of it and given that a lot of people follow Yahtzee that was kind of the nail on the coffin for it (admittedly that's not a fair judgement though as it's possible that a lot of people merely agreed with him and didn't just follow him like a messiah, who am I to judge personal opinions)

Admittedly that's just a theory, it's possible that the story and voice acting didn't impress people or that they didn't like the gameplay or online support, who knows? There are many reasons why someone can dislike a game just as there are many reasons one does like a game. Personal preferances I guess.

Still it isn't outright vocally despised on youtube comment pages, speaking as a Halo fan let me tell you, Killzone fans have it really easy.
Killzone is only sullenly resented, Halo suffers from outright hostility.

I just found the whole game bland IMO. I hated the art design (everything was black and white), the characters were douchbags, the controls were clunky. Yeah the AI was great, but it was just meh for me.

Killzone 1 wasn't a big splash on me, I will go as far as to say that the multiplayer was the bees knees, man. Killzone 2 I felt the same way. The single player in the series just doesn't rub me the right way at all.

It's completely mediocre and the A.I. is just plain stupid. I got through about 80% of the game using nothing but the knife. Plus the bosses will inadvertently help you kill them. Also the whole story is completely cliched and stupid to boot.

KZ2 was simply yet another in a long string of derivative console shooters. Light on innovation and long on hype, it was laborious to see the endless threads screaming how KZ2 really would kill halo this time-- as if it needed to.

The biggest, most exciting detail in the game:
Oh wow if you shoot a gas cylinder the gas comes out!!!

And one week later no one was playing it anymore.

I just enjoy the fact these threads have seasons, makes the escapist feel more alive when I know certain times of it's life cycle are here. Like I do believe we shall see the amazing display of "favorite etc" soon, it's almost that time of the week.

In fairness, these threads are normall semi interesting and you can at least get some sort of discussion out of them, even if it's not on the subject matter at hand. Like this.
