This is what happens between Call of Duty and Battlefield, WoW and any MMO that isn't WoW (sometimes even earlier expansions of WoW), Halo and every other futuristic shooter, Star Trek and Star Wars, Street Fighter and... whatever other fighting games are really popular... Sonic and Super Mario Bros., God of War and every other hack&slash game that gets made now, pretty much any band that's ever released an album...

Because DOTA 2 is more complex than LoL. That's a fact. Though according to a lot of DOTA 2 fans that is the same as being better than LoL and that's a fallacy if I have ever seen one. Buying Couriers, having a set number of wards and denying (among others) doesn't make the game automatically better. In my opinion, the other team being able to actively take your last hits from you is more anti-fun than Yorick.
I don't "hate" DOTA 2, I play far too much LoL but I don't particularly care that there's a a similar game on the market. In fact I plan to at least try DOTA 2 once I get a decent PC that can actually run it. Or until Valve optimises it for shitty little laptops. I don't expect to like the game but why not give it a shot right?

LoL is just different, nothing more. Could you imagine LoL if Ability Power never existed for example? Because there is literally nothing like that in DOTA 2 from my understanding. Imagine if you could have a Blink Dagger in LoL. OP bullshit. Towers are different, someone pointed out on this very site that "in LoL towers protect you, in DOTA you protect the towers" Imagine DOTA with Summoner spells and so on.
There are no emotes in DOTA i've just remembered! Fuck! That ruins the entire game! Laugh baiting is the best stratagy ever! +1 if your character has a quick spammable taunt.

Oh and as for more general reasons because the community is the worst hive of scum and villany ever made. DOTA 2 has most probably the same type of community since it is also a MOBA game that runs 35-45 minutes long in average. I mean, who wouldn't rage at the scrub Gragas who ulted the entire enemy team out of Annie's Tibbers stun? It singlehandedly threw the entire game. Worst play EU.

Seriously though, anyone who has played against a Shaco even a little bit before knows that a good Shaco WILL camp mid 24/7 while somehow counterjungling in the same nanosecond.
Also people never stop fucking pushing (then complaining about the lack of ganks) and people can't grasp that you can't properly ss against Eve and EVE WINS GAMES BY GANKING BOT! It is how she gets fed 100% of the time. I hate Eve QQ
In short,standard LoL practise is to immediately blame your jungler the moment you notice you lost your lane. It's never your fault obviously.
Oh have you seen much of the Season 3 reworks? There are a load more items with active effects now including an item that gives you free wards. I might take a Sightstone ASAP when i'm mid thinking about it. Being able to ward both sides constantly would be so helpful. I can sell it later for mo' damages. I just hate how exposed mid is... At least it's not top I suppose. Apparently it's harder to camp top than in Season 2 but i've barely noticed. Maybe I play all the scary snowball top people like Irelia and Fiora so people just try to shut me down every damn game. Protip: you can never fully shut down a Fiora. Free AD haterz.

Still 1-1-1-2 but AD bruisers mid is the new meta up in the higher ELOs. Like Riven vs Lee Sin mid for example. A fuckload. Nobody has the balls to find out which ones are good on which Champions yet but from memory some of the new ones are:
Banner of Command: Gives some AP and stuff with the ability to use Promote on a siege minion, they replaced the Promote summoner spell with it.
Seraph's Embrace: It's the final form of Tear of the Goddess/Archangel's Staff. Once Archangel's gets full mana stacks if transforms automatically into SE, you can activate a shield on yourself equal to your maximum mana I think it is.
There's an item that literally breaks a tower for 2 seconds so it can't fire. Tower Party Pantheon is born.
And the last one I remember is an item that removes all CC from an ally and does... Something else. Heals them I think.
Also Sword of the Divine. It gives you 100% crit chance and attack speed on the next three autoattacks on activation.

They removed Force of Nature though for some bizarre reason. Magic resist and movement speed got fucking gimped this season! Speaking of MR and MS there's a new one that gives both AND has an active! Twin Shadows.
Oh and Diana is dead as a Champion as of last patch sadly, RIP. That last nerf was so huge (and unneeded, she was perfectly balanced) it kicked her off the edge of being even remotely viable. Her win rate overall in Ranked dropped by 10% in ONE day. They literally broke the hitbox of her orbs, amoung other things
Havnt really noticed it myself. I get that some people like Dota 2, nothing wrong with that but to quote one of my favorite commentators "its ok to not like things but dont be a dick about it"
If people are hating on LoL or any game just to hate on it then I think thats kind of pathetic and they need to read less message boards and get a job. However some people have legitimate reasons for just not liking certain games. Personal preferences vary from person to person

Mainly the hate I see for it is the hate for the community. Worst community I have ever seen and I visit the Escapist.

I never bothered trying to play the original Dota for WC3 because you could not join in the game to try to learn. New players could never learn because if you were new, instant kicks abound. That, and I didn't care for how it focused too much on micromanagement of other stuff rather than focus on your hero. I like just looking at my hero and not having to visit five different shops.
LoL has the problem of adapting to its players meta which weakens development, spamming new champs and leaving guys like Mundo behind. Poor Mundo... Dumb mistakes or glitches that shouldn't happen. Bad community management. The only thing that kept me from that game and I DESPISED the MOBA that started it all and still liked the game, was that the community was either petulant or just incapable. And Elo hell.

Well, the first post kinda explained it. Popular stuff gets flamed a lot. And well, competing games have fans that, well, often don`t like fans of the other game. I´m sure there`s a ton of LoL players that hate Dota, or something else.
And LoL does have a pretty horrible community. Almost every single game, someone starts blaming someone, and all chat goes to hell. It seems most of the time people are writing out insults to each other than actually playing the game. Haven`t played DOTA enough to get a feel of the community, tho.

I didn't notice it at all outside direct pissing matches between die hard fans, but you brought it here for us so thank you for that.

Its not really a purely LoL issue when it comes to a community, its a DOTA issue. The community has been like this since DOTA All-Stars back in WC3 days and will continue to be that way until the end of time. If you don't see it in DoTA 2 now, give it time to get out of beta and you'll see it then.
This is the kind of thing that gets bred from hyper-competitive games, at least in mid-high and up ranked stuff.
On the plus side, if you just screw around in lower unranked stuff the community is generally pretty cool. No one usually cares if you're a terrible jungler or you have a tendency to push because you suck hardcore at last hits (totally me) because everyone in that bracket is terrible at that stuff.

Well my reason for hating that game is because in ages past "2 years ago" i convinced my friends to try out lol for fun. And we had loads of fun with it the first year, then i grew tired of the game, but my friends had formed something of a addiction to it. And here i am, playing games by myself as my friends only play lol, and the only thing i hear when we speak over skype is how they swear while playing it.WOPR said:
