What's Wrong With Communism?

Communism is awesome. It's a Utopian idea, and like all Utopian ideas it is just totally unrealistic. Human nature won't let true communism work, that's why most communist countries end up as a dictatorship someone takes power for themselves in the name of the people.

Capitalism isn't perfect by any means, but it can work with proper checks on it.

You misunderstand my point. I was merely giving an example of a high paying job versus a low paying job. I in fact have no intentions of becoming a doctor. I am actually working towards a degree in music. I'm sorry if I came across as a selfish ass; that was not my intention. I agree with you completely that of you are studying to become a doctor you should do it because you want to help people. In fact, know that I think about it, and this may sound kind of nerdy, but communism has some similarities to Star Trek, and if the majority of the world ( I'm not above including my self in this category) wasn't composed of greedy bastards, then yes, a system where a culture works not for wealth but only to better itself, would indeed work. I, however(given humanities current state) find it unlikely that we will see such a dramatic change in our lifetime. Sorry again for the misunderstanding, I was merely attempting to give an example.

i for one would like to state that if wanting to make lots of money and decide where that money goes makes me a greedy asshole then call me Mr.Asshole . i just want to get whats coming to me and i refuse to make any concessions where i dont get exactly what i work for. if i make a lot of money i may very well donate much of it to charity but i want that money to come from me by choice. i want my money and i want to decide how it gets distributed.
communism is not a good plan for an ideal world. only a stagnant one devoid of ideas.

Looking at communism strictly in theory, it is brilliant. In practice, it turns the country to hell almost instantaneously. Proving this, I am referencing every communist nation except China, which, no matter what anyone says to me, does not really seem all that communist.

i completely agree that a person should get a job that they are passionate about.i believe that in any profession you should apply your best in that job but should not feel bad about having a secondary or even equal motive to get wealth. you provide a valuable service and deserve recompense from the people who employ your service. if they dont like that then they can refuse your service. and thats where applying yourself comes in. if youre the best there is there is no reason to refuse your service, its in ones best interests to use you and you deserve pay. anything else is self defeating and counter-productive to humanity

The comical aspect of this is, people think DEMOCRACY works. When, in practice, it does not. Look at the status of all western democracies. They're either dead, or dying. In the rest of the world, they're mostly just puppet states set up by the US, for the US' own gain. And therefore, hardly a democracy at all.

Democracy is a rather bad system, since it relies on the idea that people care about the things that really matter, and a way to look deep into what politicians are saying. Oh, and that people will WANT to do both.

Here's my problem with Democracy... It is based on the idea that people will never take the right to vote for granted.. here's an example of what I mean.

Hitler comes back to life, his ressurection was witnessed by the WORLD, and 1 million Infants were slaughtered infront of everyone in the world to ressurect him. Now, everyone knows just how evil this guy is, and the autrocities that were done to bring him back to life. HE even admits in his campaign speech that he will bring the Nazi Regime back and kill everyone that is not of the master race, save for him. Put him against Mr. Rogers... Mr Rogers could lose because a bunch of online 4chan trollers decided to band together and vote for Hitler "For the lulz". Not to mention I bet Hillary Clinton would jump on the band wagon, and there would be religious groups bashing Mr Roger's publically because god (Or a bullshitting minister) told them that the myth of him being a cold hearted vietnam sniper were true...

Human kind tends to forget... no matter what we do, in the end we are still guided by some form of instinct or another. In the end we are just intelligent mammals who think so highly of themselves we forget that we are in the end, just like every other creature of the earth, only smarter. Honestly, Mix Democracies successes with Socialism's successes and that would be MY ideal government. People should stop this whole Red VS Blue crap, and start going by facts, rather then biasm... but if we did, it would mean the Borg invaded the earth successfully.

Communism doesnt work in theory because it is designed as a system for humans. maybe if it were designed for robots with no motive to achieve it could work. and there is nothing wrong with humanity. the desire to achieve is fundamental of humanity as humanity cant decide as a whole to stop working for its betterment. what people call greed is just a normal human desire to achieve.

therefore communism is a terrible theory because humanity is too good for it.
the exact opposite of what most people on this thread believe it seems.

Another part of the problem is that people will not always understand the issues at hand. Or know of all the issues. Or CARE about all the issues.

Nothing, it's used everywhere, sorry to say. Capitalism is still an abstract form of communism.
We're given the illusion of choice, but really, the government owns everything. Freedom of speech no longer exists. You say something the government doesn't want you to, publicly and you're a dead man. Just accept it and move along like good sheep, don't try and buck the system, don't try and invent something that could help the world's economic climate or unsustainable fuel problems. The government won't let you.

For some reason, the U.S. has had an issue with even the word "Communism". I don't know why. Maybe it has to do with those old propoganda films that say "If you buy such-n-such from somebody, you are buying.. COMMUNISM!".

One think I would like to say about the current 'communist' states, is that they in fact are no longer even a huge perversion of communism they are in fact the ultimate form of capitalism. There is a small group of people who control all of the countries assets and they can keep people from over taking them because they have all the power. This is what would happen if Capitalism was to reach its ultimate potential one group would take control one way or another and it would become a world much like Korea and China. Though at first there would be a point in time where prices would be insanely high and there would be a large amount of death in the lower classes because there would be a large lack of jobs and affordable anything after a while this would 'stabilize' and fall into what is called 'Communism'
