only in BFBC2 am i a tryhard but if we lose i dont blame my team and if i do want to blame my team i keep my type of comments to myself cuz i know not everyone is playing to win but to have fun.
I play to win all the time, but I keep that to myself mostly. Its just a personal thing where I have to play as good as possible, unless I am obviously screwing around, because of an old "pride" of mine that says that I am someone who does well at things. Doing good at stuff, be it games or life, is my business, and I must do my business. :3
i see beeing called a tryhard more as a compliment, than a insult. Anyone wants to win a game, if your calling the opposing team tryhards because they beat you is kinda tactless. also i might sound like a douche saying this, but i don't really take shit from the losing team, if you win then you can insult me. : p and anyone calling you a tryhard is obviously gonna be on the losing team.
I generally just play online for the heck of it, I only really try to win when playing the single player mode, having said that if someone comes in and is doing crap that makes it a bugger to even just play for fun I tend to speak up and tell the person what's up.
Most of the time they say sorry and either leave or actually play the game, but sometimes I run into an idiot who thinks I'm bitching for basicly asking them to be considerate by, say, not driving around the race track purposefully slamming into people.
The last kid that tried that however spent a good 20 minutes getting his arse stiched shut after the host booted him for doing exactly what I asked him not to do.
Games are meant to play for fun. if you start treating them too seriously, you turn into a wannabe super villain who sells salsa (King of Kong reference.)
The sorts of people you're talking about are either very juvenile, or people who are playing the game casually and want to have fun. Thing is though, the latter group is probably too laid back to bag you - or they're just not dickheads - so your troubles probably stem from the former. There's nothing wrong with trying hard, and most gaming communities encourage it.
I like to win, but that doesn't mean I can't have a good chuckle at my own expense...just today I was playing L4D - I was being a 'tryhard' because I went out of my way to rescue my team, but I also got a decent laugh from failing utterly.
Because it's a way to justify to themselves the fact that you're better than them. You should try it sometime! It's guaranteed to make you look mature and NOT pissy about losing in the slightest!
But don't you DARE try it TOO hard... you tryhard...
