It has significant DRM checks. AFAIK It checks all components multiple times a second to ensure that they are DRM compatible. If they are not it will cut out and HD-DVD or Blu-Ray signal. All of these checks actually slow down processes so something like XP will actually run faster on the same set-up.Ph33nix said:I see alot of vista sucks on forums around the net and its forced me to ask the question, whats wrong with vista?
Things not to include: It takes up a ton of space on the hard drive, It attempts to be over protected but its security sucks.
Also, hardware can be remotely disabled if windows detects that you are trying to tamper with the copy protection. Basically, Vista assumes you are a 'criminal' rather than a paying user.
I bought it and though it is actually a decent OS it has many flaws. Microsoft supply no decent firewall or anti-virus. Internet Explorer is terrible, in fact all Microsoft Products are a bit of a joke in terms of functionality. The 'user protection' that is implemented is a major hinderance even to basic users let alone advanced users. The data transfer speed are awful, I mean so bad you might as well be copying any file to a slow 3.5 inch floppy drive.
EDIT: Positives are:-
Blu-Ray and HD0DVD support
Decent 64-Bit integration
DirectX10 graphics
Though most of these can be attained through XP they require significant changes for the average user.
EDIT 2:
64 Bit version lets you run up to 128GB of RAM should you need it. It also makes better use of the RAM that is there.
