Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

I know it seems like a sarcastic/obvious response to this thread, but I really do like that quote and think it's a good guideline to live by. Let people believe what they want, don't believe everything you hear, be open to new ideas, etc etc etc.

"if your mother tells you that she loves you, verify it"

"trust is earned, and should never be simply given away"

"something given has no value" (general of the second one)

"the pure and simple truth is rarely pure and never simple"

"everything is relative"

"the one thing I can truly trust is my mind"

So if things aren't at their absolute shittiest, then they're perfect?

OT: Don't go looking for enemies, but don't let the ones who find you steamroll you.
Of course they're not perfect but things could be worse so find the silver lining whenever you can because things could always be worse.
I don't follow. You should look for a silver lining because things could be worse? I understand the idea that you should look for upsides to any shitty situation, but that's not because children are starving in Africa.

It just helps me to have the absolute worst situation in mind when I'm dealing with something that in the context of the worst situation in mind could be seen as trivial and even laughable. More specifically during one of the two summers I spent in Ghana with family despite it being one of the wealthier African nations I still saw a true slum while being driven to a sugar cane field owned by my fathers friend. I just said war to make it make more sense to those reading this with my main point being no matter how bad things look they can get worse.

"Never let go, never forget."

It applies to every moment of my life... I didn't include anything about forgiveness because I do forgive... It's just on a case by case basis.

There's also...

"Do what's best, do what's right, don't let yourself down."

and the popular

"Never give up, never give in."

The last one's from a song I like.

Finally...

"Always be loyal like a wolf to your brothers and pack."

To quote Rap and R&B artist Drake : "Fuuck daat niggaaa dat you love soo baaaad."
But in all seriousness, I'm going to paraphrase Sonny Koufax "Have fun, and I'll show you some cool shit along the way. That's what it's all about!"

I see what you did their, quoting CREED.

Someone is going for "Most clever post" this year.

Creed for me?

"Come out of everything with a smile, even if it hurts"

Memento Mori. "Remember Death".

The knowledge that everything eventually expires, and that we're all equalized and even unified by it, keeps me grounded. When I feel like putting something off and procrastinating, Memento Mori reminds me that I don't have forever to do the things I want to do or get what I want out of life. And if something isn't going well, Memento Mori reminds me that it won't last forever.

I don't know if I'd call it a creed, but I've always operated under the "It takes all kinds of people to make a world" saying too. I find it goes a long way towards my not having any real problem with people in general.
