I demand a list of elements to choose from! Just asking us to choose fucks me up. I CAN'T DECIDE!

We'll I guess I can try. Maybe fire. Fire is energy and if you can control energy... you can do all sorts of shit.

Helium.
It would let me fly, which would be totally awesome.
It would let me talk funny, which would also be awesome.

Air, because I could fly, suffocate, and do other awesome things! :D probs also be able to use it in combination with fire to create lightning, to strike down the pesky trees and earth!
Science fail
Epic science fail.

OT: I feel like I'd be a water kind of guy, but I like fire and all the awesomeness that it comes with.

Now that you think about it, Fire isn't really an element is it? And if so, no more than lightning is. Explanation: They aren't constant. Unlike water and earth, they are only around until they run out of fuel (Fire needs air, and lightning needs friction(?) or pressure or something in the right amounts). While water and earth will remain.

Elements are considered the basis of everything, just like the basic colours. And when fire isn't always around, it can't exactly be an element (I think).

Can someone please prove me wrong, so I wont come off quite as douchy /ignorant / stupid?

OT: I'd pick water.
By that thought process, yes your right. However just in general symbolism it seems that the consensus was the four: Air, Water, Earth, Fire.

Well according to my star sign my element is water. Which I'm happy with because water has always been my favourite. So I guess I'll go with water, the destructive force it has, is incredible.
You always seemed like a person to go with the flow knight :p

Electricity, shocking isn't it.
I'm not quite sure how to deal with you right now...

Space/Time? ......No?

Ok, ice it is then
Nice try, but we got rid of the broken elements Timelord:p (By broken I mean overpowered.)

Stop making me agree with you!

OT: I choose the element of surprise.

You shall all cower before my minions!

Jar have you been gone or have I just not seen you?

I'd probably go earth cos its always around and can probably be the most useful... and (given the last airbender) it can be extended to metal so I can go all magneto! ;) And in modern society there is so much metal that u'd always be able to bend something :D (if that doesn't work ill just go with metal)
Toph is the only metalbender because of her unique circumstance and I stand behind that!

Life doesn't sound as cool!

And Light and Darkness are opposites, so no.
(Or well, not opposites, as darkness is just the absence of light)
They are symbolic opposites, just not literal opposites.

Lightning. If I had that all I would have to do is buy a black cloak then I'll be THE best cosplayer ever.
Don't forget the mask, and the awesomeness. You need lots of the second one.

Ice would be a bit of an issue, but in my opinion, you can't defeat the sheer durability of earth and the ability to create stones and hurl them is perfect in a fight.

OT: This is a tough question, I think I would probably lean more towards water, based on the fact that if I'm powerful enough I can just control you.

Although to be honest most of my crazy daydreams( a lot of fire to stupid peoples face, creating a giant pillar to launch people etc etc.) in real life situations involve the other three, but practically speaking water would be best.

When I think element, I think Classical Elements:

Or:

None of that silly Light/Dark/Electricity/Whatever stuff.

OT: Earth
I prefer Planescape's Inner Planes/demiplanes personally ... much more interesting to read than all that mumbo jumbo astrology 'caste' stuff.

Atleast D&D has elementals ....

OT however you can't go past Air or Earth .... Whirlwinds and earthquakes > blazes and tsunamis.

Wind/Air. I will show you what kind of hell is unleashed with a violent storm. Especially if I can speed myself up to ridiculous levels.

And therefore, light would be good too, just to move really really fast.

Wow, a lot of people seem to like water, which is a shame, because I like water too. I love the versatility you get with it. First, you can go from a liquid, using blunt force. Water gets a lot of force with high pressure, and can easily gain a lot of weight. After liquid, you go to a solid, ice. Ice has sharpness and temperature working for it. After those, you have the oft-overlooked steam. Steam is fucking deadly. Shoot it at somebody while it's under pressure and they are seriously fucked.

As for what element corresponds to me, I have absolutely no idea.

Either fire or water.

Water because it's pretty useful(life, plus ice and air/water vapor), and the world is covered in it.

Fire because of my slight pyromania, and the fact that it's so gosh darn pretty to look at.

If by control you mean like in Avatar, I would want either earth or water

as for the one that matches me, Fire, for reasons i am too lazy to explain
