Well I loved the story, the pacing and intrigue present throughout the show was enough to make me watch it all in one sitting... and the fact that the show makes you think, and not in the sense that it doesn't tell you things or requires a PhD in psychology and religion from the university of smartass, but answers all of your questions with more questions if that makes any sense to leave the plot open enough for interpretation but tight enough to be understood by someone who doesn't give a crap what Lain's bear suit is supposed to represent... It's really something you need to watch several times to understand... and actually I didn't like then ending that much it shows how much of the show they had to cut since the second season was canceled during development of the first...PoisonUnagi said:
I really connected to Lain as a character and I thought she was decently characterized and developed throughout the show... she is very reserved, skeptical and hesitant in social environments much like a shy and uncomfortable kid might be... I also liked Masami Eiri a lot as the main villain mostly because despite his plan of, you know, destroying the barrier between the real world and the wired to usher humanity into the next level of evolution and be herald as a god for his effort, when it comes down to it he's just a disgruntled office worker... though pretty much all of the side characters were interchangeable blank slates...
And finally the presentation was great the distinct art style by Yoshitoshi ABe really added to the atmosphere of the show... and the soundtrack is one of my favorites... done by the guitarist of R/C Succession, Nakaido Reiichi, or something... even if it was hardly present in the show each piece was very well made and implemented to great effect in the show...
Gunsmith Cats too bad it was only a 3 part deal. I mean it had hot girls, guns, muscle cars and lots of action what not to like?

Reason: It knows that it's a ecchi show and runs with it to a glorious degree

Reason: It's mature enough to handle serious themes while also being able to have fun with itself.
When I'm in a pensive/happy mood: Yu Yu Hakusho

you know I'm not even a fan of ecchi but I found it was pretty entertaining (even though fanservice did get annoying but it's an ecchi go figure)Chrmike said:
I agree, Golem 239. That's the whole point to it. I mean, I can enjoy the ecchi in a show like Girls Bravo because it knows what it can only be and works with that to make something fun. I really hate Ecchi when it's shoehorned into the plot so clumsily that totally makes the series stupid.

I hate giving the top one. So I'll give the top three. Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Kara no Kyoukai.
Fate stay night and Beck. Fate stay night because it's the only anime that's more complete then the manga, beck because it's a manga about music and yeah having music in the story does help.
I don't understand why anyone would fine Full-Metal-Alcemist a great anime. It had two incarnations, one where they worked out the plot themselves (it sucked) and one where the copied the manga as closely as possible. Now I would say that the second one was much better, but it was just a knockoff from the manga. Why would you bother watching it?
