I intend to get all of those myself through Steam, with the £52.99 Valve complete package, but as of now I've only played L4D so far, and even then due to almighty lag only the first part of the first level in No Mercy.

Yes, I know, I'm a disgrace to gamers everywhere...

I believe a crowbar would be more appropriate:p
OT: Either HL2 ep2 or else tf2

The very first Half Life, and close second comes Half Life 2 and third place comes Team Fortress 2. Very few games made me jawdrop like those games when they were released.

Edit: Ugh, my English fails today >.<

I got Left 4 Dead, which I'm not too thrilled with, and downloading Knights of the Old Republic now.. That looks fun.

I'm torn between TF2, L4D and HL2. Portal was great but it doesn't have the longevity of TF2 and L4D.

Half life 2 episode 2 is definitely the most perfectly designed valve game yet, and in fact the best designed game I have ever played, ever. Every inch and every item is carefully considered or thought through. The level design is fantastic. The characters, combat and set pieces are so well rounded and satisfying that it is really a new step in the industry. Sorry if this sounds all worshipful but I really would marry this game and have babies with it.

Team Fortress 2. Portal was good but too short, Half-life 2 had a good story but mediocre gameplay, Counter Strike sounds like an average shooter that is multiplayer only (well balanced does not count as an innovation, but I could be wrong about this because I've never played CS), Left 4 Dead got repetitive quickly in human mode, but undead mode was great (they should have expanded upon it more). Team Fortress 2 had balance, classes, humor, atmosphere, and great gameplay, and I consider kit to be one of the best FPS games.

Half-Life 2. One of the best single player experiences ever. I also greatly enjoyed L4D, despite lack of content, and Portal, despite the shortness, and the two HL2 episode releases.

do i really need to explain myself?

*sigh*

i am 16, so i cant yet make online purchases except through my parents. my parents have until very recently been paranoid about buying anything online, so i have never even had the opportunity to play them. they still are slightly paranoid, it's just that i have convinced them they shouldn't be. so i only now have that option.

Can I say Orange Box?

Can I get away with choosing Half Life 2 with the episodes as well?

How can you make me choose just one game you swine! it's like saying "which is your favourite finger? We're going to cut off all the rest!"

Grr.. Ok if I have to commit to just one then I'll settle for Team Fortress 2, that is just a gift that keeps on giving.

But the Half Life 2 mods... Portal... Left 4 Dead... DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!

I know this is expected as soon as you say "favourite valve game" but generally my favorite is TF2, never fails to amuse me.

Half-Life 2 and the episodes are not only my favorite Valve games, but my favorite games in general.

In second place is TF2. I've spent hundreds of hours playing that game, and I have never gotten bored. And that's pretty impressive seeing as the map I spend 80% of my TF2 time playing is 2Fort.
