I did the first national one they ran in Australia - got around 140 I think?

I don't really know how that related to anything real world though - I'm inclined to say it doesn't, however I haven't gone off and done a study of IQ vs what people have done in their lives so what would I know?

I consider myself smarted then most people and this has proven to be mostly true. I currently work in IT for a financial institution.

My personal failing is my memory. I am indeed smart - understanding things has never been the issue for me, remembering everything is.

I did one a few years back, but it was free and on the internet, so I usually disregard it.
People don't care about IQ scores these days, and neither do I.

I got 137, btw.

I tried one and got 143, which is apparently just inside the genius category. So yeah, not going to bother doing any more!

But seriously, IQ tests are almost completely worthless. If people are scoring, say, below 90 or above 170 regularly on different tests (which in itself is doubtful, considering they're not that consistent) then its fair to say they're fairly unintelligent or highly intelligent.

The gap in the middle could mean anything though.

There are several standards for IQ, meaning you need to mention what scale we are using here. Since 87 is extremely low on some, while normal on others. When I was 17 I scored 142 in general categories and 144 for mathematical stuff in a testcenter. The available online ones are generally crap.

IQ tests are useless unless you are looking for the extreme values (retardation or zomg make this man a scientist.) That said, I don't think an IQ or general aptitude tests ever give a comprehensive look at "intelligence". Fundamentally IQ tests don't tell you how clever you are, they tell you how good you are at taking IQ tests.

i have done a few online IQ tests and get anything from 100 up to 160 ish.

i tried that BBC iq test but it was too british for a non brit to do well

I had one done when I was in the first or second grade for admittance to my county's "gifted program," and it came back as either 124 or 126. My parents never went back and found the report to double check it.
