Don't feed the trolls.

Trolls come in two varieties: Attention whores and Straight A*holes.

There is nothing good about trolling. At least according to my definition. To me trolling is the act of intentionally pissing someone (or some people) off for no reason. You can claim it's funny, but in my opinion it's only funny when you know the person. That's just giving your friends crap, which is kind of expected. When you intentionally piss random strangers off on purpose, you're just a dick.
^this.

It can be funny but trolling on easy prey (on purpose) is sad. I mean, you are intentionally pissing off naive people in hopes that they will do something stupid for your own amusement. Trolling an 8 year girl is not really an accomplishment.
Someone who trolls an 8 year old girl must be pretty easy to troll, therefore trolling him to show him how much of a dumbass he is would make the troll troller look more pathetic than the troll trolling the little girl.

And now for something completely different.

Umm, That was Hawkard!

I'd rather it not happen, but I like when it does, because then I can just send it right back at them with a big wall of indifference.

i think trolling is funny when done to the right kind of people, otherwise it's just a pain in the arse.

meh mostly i find it pretty funny, its usually someone trying way to hard to prove someone wrong or someone is just being an aggressive dick and has it coming to em, sure some of them are dumb or are trying way too hard, but overall i just enjoy the shit out of it...

but then again i don't get half as annoyed as most people on the internet, so maybe that's just me..

The standards for "Good trolling" are way too low. Seriously, too many people are so proud of themselves for it. I can appreciate good humor, like, real wit. But if you are the "lol u mad?" or the "LOL Y SO SRS" type, and try and build yourself as some sort of internet alpha male because of your leet trolling, you just look pathetic.
lol u mad?

It depends on the context, sometimes it's hilarious, sometimes it's annoying. I find the best times to be when someone gets counter trolled.

As long as its trolling without a victim, or causes entire thread derailments, or links to shock sites (Lemon Party, 2girls1cup and so forth (dont google those if you dont know what they are)) Its fine. as long as everyone will be able to stand back in a few seconds and have a nice chuckle, its good.

When its Trolling with the intention of causing grief or anger (Which it usialy is, sadly) its a problem, and i dislike it.

Sometimes, i wonder what the internet would be like if the BlizzardRealID system went through. Probably very boring, but still...

I only troll when one of a few things happen
1 epic fail by the enemy or me(yeah i troll myself)
2 Epic kill (quadra kill in lol with 1/3 health left ect.)
3 Gears 2 Horde mode- If a 68 lv guy dies on wave 1 (normal difficulty), thats the right to laghf, if he gets defensive, then troll him a bit.
4 We see this alot, the inbred variety of troll, the one that talks shit for no reason and cant back it up.

If there anyone who knows how to handle trolls its Ray William Johnson he mimics, makes fun of and predicts with surprising accuracy how they respond to his videos.
Heres a link to one of his videos that is a classic example of how Ray understands exactly how trolls think.

I don't mind it since I get trolled easily by my friends who, by the powers that be, have discovered their inner troll. I don't blame the internet or my friends, I just hate the fact they take advantage of my sensitivity and the fact that I'm rather... uptight or square about things.
However there are times where it just becomes distasteful, annoying and rather redundant because they do it constantly to the point where I don't even know if I can take them seriously any more.

Internet-wise, I think everyone is trying too hard to win the attention of likes and thumbs-up on Youtube, by 'trolling'. I kinda thought it meant to write something that'll cause a flame war or something.
So really trolling has become an unknown something. For me it'll be a gelatinous mass of various what nots that I have no idea what it is any more.

Trolling is a healthy way to relieve stress and anger by passing it onto unfortunate others. Its fun, and satisfying!

I think it ultimately depends on what website the troll is on
On this site, trolling is frowned apon, which is a real shame, because some of them can lead to some real laughs. I've always thought that Escapist should have a "Random" section like 4chan's infamous /b/
on 4chan though, trolling is part of the culture there, and most of them lead to some very humorous responses.
Trolling is fine when it is regulated

I dunno, I never really liked fishing...

Seriously, though, if it's done right (and, preferably, if it's clever), it can be pretty damn funny.
