If that deer done that to my dog I would be running at it and beating the shit out of it.
Actually it would most likely be the other way around.
At least i'm not sitting there watching it kill my dog.
Yes, because laying there watching it kill you is such an improvement.
That filled me with a hearty guffaw. Also reach doesn't matter when it is a thing that can kill you. Our species developed brains for the purpose of out competing our rivals which works when you use those brains to know what can kill you, a trait that seems very deficient in the species.

It's a deer, I could easily outreach it with something long.
Good luck then. You'll only get maybe one swing before it knocks you on your ass. Make it count.

What really made the video was the lady screaming.

Another good one is the one with the pelican eating a pigeon whole. Of course, pigeons are as beloved as dogs or cats, but it's still pretty wild.

A deer once attacked me, I ate his liver with some fava beans, and a nice Chianti.
I let him go on his way.

Well, what the hell did you expect the deer to do? Dogs are domesiticated wolves, you'd have thought it might try and protect it's young quite vigorously like that.

I'd have no chance defending against a deer. I mean no gun, no long sharp objects.. and there's no way I could get in a blow from a small knife from the kitchen.

Sorry to correct your grammar, but I'm pretty sure the plural of deer is deer.

I can't recall any animal attacks, but if a deer did that to my dog, I'd have to shoot him. (The deer, that is)

That cat deserves a standing ovation. It tried to avenge the dog, eighty billion well deserved points to the little feline of doom!

OT: It sucks that the dog was attacked but what do they expect, nature isn't nearly as clement as we try and portray it as and stuff like this will keep on happening so long as we encroach on what little land is left wild.

Go team Deer!

They call em wild animals for a reason.

It's just protecting the baby. Albeit in a kind of pre-emptive strike from 50 yards away. But that dog woulda probably had a go at the baby if it had the chance.

Kudos to the cat though. Still had the balls to swipe the deer!

I love how a lot of you people on here think you could take a deer on with your bare hands. Good luck with that, hope you have a nice time in hospital.
And the worst kind of animal attack I've ever had to suffer is a wasp sting.

I was once attacked by a Swan at a local Wildfowl park when I was 7. It walked right up to me and I assumed it wanted food or a strokig. Nope. It wanted to peck my eye out, and it hurt.

Don't you people understand the concept of mothers protecting their young? I feel sorry for the dog and cat yeah, but this is what animals do. She saw the dog as a predator.
Quiet with your logic. You are to call the deer a "*****" and declare how you would run up and attack it, ignoring the fact that one hit to the face would have you unconscious and bleeding profusely requiring immediate medical attention.

I understand people are upset but don't start saying things like 'I'd snap it's neck' or any of that bullshit.
They're totally badass. Fuck bears even, they'd totally beat off bears without a weapon. And tyrannosaurs.

I was charged by a buck once (we're talking the sort a hunter would dream of having on his wall). I was with some other people, and suffice to say we did not break it's neck. We scattered like fucking ants and ran behind the biggest trees we could find because that thing WILL kill you.

There's a reason they use their hooves. Imagine being hit in the face by several very sharp rocks without pause.
Me and my friends have killed a dear with a rock and bat, hence my comment. One a bit smaller than this one almost got hit by a car in the middle of the road, when the guy got out to scare it away, it attacked him, his toddler got scared and attempted to run to his dad, and got attacked also, seeing this we ran outside, got it from behind and ended the thing in a few seconds.

I can't stand animals being hurt. If that deer were to look at my dog funny I would have rushed it with my iron fire poker. I wouldn't even think, I would not stand for even a millisecond to see it. I'd have fucking brained that deer, then probably throw up.

Seeing something attacking family will not be tolerated for even a fucking second. I can not and will not tolerate that. Who ever tries to bring about harm on my family will know my god damn wrath.

This is one thing I will not fucking tolerate regardless.

Mrs Deer, say hello to my dog protection stick.

It's severely wounded 2 foxes, a deer like you, and killed 2 fishers.

Burn in hell.
A little ironic is it not?
Family>My huge distaste in suffering in animals.

I'll be shaken like all hell afterwards, and probably be pent up in my room for a while, but when it comes down to it I'll kill it. My dog is family, you don't fuck with that. Now I'm feeling a little sick from remembering the last fisher... if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go take a nap and try to forget about it...
I think he was referring to how you're clearly motivated by protecting your family which is exactly the same motivation that the deer had. Also what the hell kind of situation calls for a kingfisher to be splat with a poker? I'm genuinely curious.

A fisher is a small little animal, with rather sharp teeth. A bit smaller then my dog, but longer. It could kill my dog easily.

Also the deer was by its self. There was no family to protect, unless it attacked my dog because its family was far away, but close enough to warrant attacking this.

Why would a deer even need to attack that is beyond me.

Wow...looks like it is choking to death. Serves it right for stepping out of line in the food chain heh.

In comment to the Pelican video of course.

At the video with the deer and dog posted after the first post.

The guy recording put his dog in there. I have sound off, but that looks like a car, and it's a closed off area. Fucking douche.

That Pelican was an idiot. Trying to choke itself.

And that guy should a crawled into a ball or grappled himself around it's neck.

I got attacked by a Flamingo in Florida once. I was like 8 and I held out my hand, palm towards it. Jabbed it like a *****.

And then I was attacked by a German Shepherd with my friend. And he was going to start running. Pfft.

The mother deer probably let the cat stick with them because it wasn't threat, but then it saw the dog and immediately thought "Predator!" The poor dog was cheap shot and combo locked before it could do anything, and the stupid ***** of a woman didn't even yell at the deer and make herself look big. As far as the deer knew, there was no connection between her and the dog. She needed to make her look like it's protector- deer are skiddish, and it would run off given enough prodding (I hope). I love how the cat tried to take revenge for the dog, though.

Honestly, people, we're not the strongest animals out there, but we're no pushovers, either. I mean, we're pretty much apes. When confronted with a wild animal and given no other choice, act like a gorilla.

Swans are mean motherfuckers. I've had some swim out towards me from the center of a lake with he intent of attacking me just because I was standing on the shore.

I dunno, is animal planet disturbing? :p luls.
All this macho bravado is pretty intriguing. I have nothing against killing a beast, but maybe best to wait for the situation to actually happen before you say you'll bravely rush in to save so and so. If it was your human family member, sure - pet or another animal, you may hesitate. Is it really worth it? We can be strong, but compared to most other animals we're pretty relatively weak - chimps are about 6 times stronger than humans. It's our brains we're supposed to use.
Guy who got out of car and allegedly beat a deer to death, while awesome it was completely unnecessary. Shouldn't have even gotten out of the car, or at least not allowed a damn child to be near a wild animal.
HELL YEAH I CAN STOMP WILD ANIMALS WHO ARE JUST ACTING ON INSTINCT GRR MANLY THINGS
