What, when did New Jersey become cool? My money's on when Kevin Smith started making movies there. But then he left and the cool is gone now.

New Jersey isn't cool.
It's only more notable because of that show starring those orange creatures.

New Jersey was never cool, nor shall it ever be cool. But it is an overcast, depressing state!
I beg to differ.

that's WHY it sucks balls.

If that guy didn't have giant fucking robot he'd be a douche.

Wait, why does New York hate New Jersey?
Sorry I'm from England but I would like to know
I don't know much about England, but Imagine Hypothetically: the London football(you got soccer, we got gridiron) team had no room to put a stadium. The developers go to the next closest/cheapest state/province where there's swampy meadowlands that no one cares about, and they start construction. The small-town's folk are ecstatic, they get all this new tourism. The London populace are angry 'cause they gotta drive over a bridge and pay a toll to get to see their teams play.
It's also more expensive to live in London, so they come to the small town to buy less-taxed wholesale items. Some of the more 'frugal' London people decide to move to the small town, causing it to grow. When the people who still live in London see, "Oh that guy moved to the small-town? Good, I hated that guy, that town must hell-hole now." But then, this is all just speculation.

As someone who actually lives here, let me comment. We have been described as the Rodney Dangerfield of the U.S. We get no respect. Yes, our pollution is high, property taxes are unbearable, and insurance rates are just inhumane. So, yes we do deserve a bit of the criticism against us. We are known as that land mass between New York and Philadelphia.

I just want to point out, the douches on Jersey Shore are actually from Long Island. We're really not like that.

Oh, and we have Bruce Springsteen.

Never consider it cool but I really don't hate it.

I drove through it once and I though it was a pretty nice sate. (for a while though)

Its just the stereotypical 'Jersey Shore people' ,the corruption, and all the pollution that gives them the bad image.

Ok so it was cool when Megas XLR was on too, but it got cancelled haha. Also, note how Coop leveled half of Jersey a couple times but no one noticed.

I don't entirely follow, who is London meant to represent?

I was under the impression New Jersey was a bit like a car wreck. People may watch it from a distance, but nobody watching would want to be in it.

A surprising percentage of America's relatively scarce crop of decent Progressive Metal acts hail from New Jersey. Other than that I can't really think of anything commendable to say about it - New Jersey is and has been the butt of jokes in much the same way that Cleveland (a city where the river actually caught on fire several times) was and to a certain extent still is; there is just something inherently ironic with a tiny smog-covered industrial-complex of a state referring to itself as "The Garden State".

The whole "Jersey Shore" nonsense certainly doesn't help public opinion either.

Streetight Manifesto is why New Jersey is cool (in my book at least). Them and most of the more mature American ska bands are from New Jersey, so NJ is cool.

London refers to New York City and its residents. New Jersey would be the "small town". There's not much actual difference between the cost of (Northern) NJ and NYC as a whole. The big draw is the sales tax (which is similar to VAT).

Ahh New Jersey. I'm from Canada, and even I know it's terrible. It's "popular" now, but soon the fad will end and no one will ever hear GTL again.
