I was looking at a thread I had made and I got a couple quotes from someone, we got into a small discussion about prostitution and picking up women or something like that when he (I assume it's a he because his profile said so) called me a sexist, apparently I had said something sexist?

"I think that's average actually. Probably 9/10 guys have to at least make good conversation before a girl will do anything with them. And yes, paying for sex is pathetic."

I'll admit it was a crude comment that could easily be taken the wrong way, but since when is acknowledging that people need social skills to find a mate considered sexist? I never put women as a gender in a lower standard, nor did I portray them as objects. Another thing worth noting is that I never said sex directly, I said "do anything with" this could be a date, getting coffee etc.

Yes, I am pissed that this "incident" happened.

Anyways, I ask you fellow escapians, when did discussing how to get a potential mate become unacceptable? And what are things that are apparently unacceptable in this world that really pissed you?

Note: I am not attempting to troll by posting this thread.

You weren't being sexist. The other guy was either being a troll (a shitty one) or is one of those super-sensitive pricks who takes everything the wrong way. Its not offensive, its a fact. Without social skills the chances of having a relationship are zero.

I don't see anything sexist about the quote. Social skills are needed in most relationships and without them, it will proably fail.

Well, most everything these days gets called out as being sexist/racist/etc. I wouldn't really worry about it too much.

As for things that piss me off because they're unacceptable... well, honestly, mostly making sexist or racist jokes. I can understand why people get offended, but if they know me then they should know pretty damn well that I'm just being ironic and don't really feel that way at all. People tend to take things way out of proportion way too often.

Hah! Good one. But seriously, why bother posting then? Just wrack up the post score?

Eh, people are all sorts of crazy nowadays. What really got me was something from earlier today. It's now apparently sexist for a man to join a group supporting women's rights.

I swear you post just like MaxtheReaper used to. Narcissistic and uncaring.

OT: There isn't anything sexist about that statement. The same thing happens if you merely say "black people." People just like to complain.

Sounds like he's a bit over-sensitive on the subject. Then again the sheer amount of testosterone that flows through this website is likely to create some "He-man" type of discussions. But for your part I think your intention was certainly not to offend. Unless you were meaning to offend people that have sex with prostitutes.

Okay, then why did you post? You must care some bit to post about how much you don't care. Which is very ironic.

People don't get to tens of thousands of posts by only posting about the things that interest them. But fluffybacon can't be Maxthereaper, 'cause that would be ban-hopping, and we all know ban-hopping never happens on The Escapist.
I look at his avatar and he looks just like Max.

Plus he acts like him.

ah, I c I'm not needed here, Fluffy got enough people to respond and talk about him being a douche.

Anyway, OP, I dont' see how it was sexist but you'll meet plenty of twats so you might as well just live with it and not mind it too much. There's lots of people in teh world with a lot of different sets of experiences, expecations, and morality or lack thereof. Also a lot just type wahtever and dont mean a damn thing.

Honestly, your comment seemed a little more sexist towards men than women. (There's an implication in your statement that men don't want a conversation and only want sex.) But that is waaaay too tame to offend.

Now, let me tell you the one about the Catholic hooker.

Forget about it. Who cares if you're misconstrued? Just correct him, and if he doesn't "get it" after that it's not your problem.

The Na'vi doen't have sarcasm on Pandora, do they?
Nope.

Then again, Pandora is a fictional world, and in no way can exist in ours.

Idk, you seem to be in line. Some people just like to argue I guess. And whats "trolling"?
Trolling is the act of being a douche on purpose, to get people to respond, something that we all do at least once (I do it almost constantly).
