Probably hasn't happened since Ghosts and Goblins. Twisted Metal 2 was difficult, took a 6 hour marathon session, but I did finally win. Never beat Rogue Trip in single player, but it was easy with splitscreen multiplayer.
Imagine my frustration that I was playing on hard difficulty.hermes said:Coincidentally, the last game I remember doing that was God of War Ascension, during the trials of Archimedes. The difficulty took a spike in that section, and it was not interesting nor was it original, just fight wave after wave of enemies without health items in very small rectangular arenas. After a couple hours of trying to beat this section that was A LOT harder than anything in the previous games (in normal difficulty), I remembered: that is the least interesting God of War game of the entire franchise (including the PSP games) and that happened, more or less, 20 minutes before the end of the game; so I had no further reason to endure that, I can just throw away the disc and can watch the rest of it on youtube. I didn't regret it one bit.
I came VERY close to giving up on Dead Island as well. For me it was the bugs. There's a bug that weapons will disappear if you craft or customize more than one item at once, which I tried to avoid, until weapons started disappearing from my inventory with no explanation. Given the emphasis the game puts on crafting your own arsenal, upgrading your weapons with money that is VERY easy to lose and modding them with parts that are VERY hard to get... having that simply disappear on me for no reason was excruciating. That and the fact I was Throwing class, which meant I threw most of my stuff hoping 1) it wouldn't simply disappear into the ground and 2) I'd be able to retrieve it before dying.darkcalling said:Dead Island came VERY close thanks to being entirely nonbalanced for single-player. I heard about that glitch but never experienced it myself thankfully as that probably WOULD have made me rage quit. I guess either I was lucky or they had patched that one out by the time I got it. Grabbed it used several months after the initial release.Johnny Novgorod said:I came VERY close to giving up on Dead Island as well. For me it was the bugs. I swore that game on and off throughout 3 years before I finally beat it.
For me it was the bit where you parachute through a forest. Never really figured out how to do it, I just lucked out.Hops said:Tomb Raider 2013, the mission where you have to get past a gate or something with a bunch of dudes chasing you. I'd played it all the way up to that point on hard, but had to lower the difficulty because the enemies would just hunt me down and kill me when I'd run out of bullets. After making it easier, I still couldn't get past it.
Same here regarding Dark Souls 2. We'll see about Bloodborne. I just got past the Living Failures boss, but after the fight with Ludwig, I'm wondering if I can deal with the stuff ahead.CaitSeith said:Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne DLCs. I got stuck in every one of them...
