I wouldn't have said they were too over the top, just not your typical video game inhabitants. If I was honest, that kind of universal unattractiveness was probably fairly common in that kind of middle ages environment where the average peasant was old by age 40, just due to the low standard of living anyone but the nobility had. We are just more used to fantasy worlds filled with supermodels with magically perky breasts and botox like wrinkle free complexions.

Edit: Ellie on the other hand IS over the top outlandish. She is also pretty hilarious.

Uhhhh I guess a large percentage of NPCs would be "not sexy" I think. Pretty much all of Fallout: NV, 'cept Veronica and Cass and the few hilarious "advertisers" outside a casino.

Persona 4 had that one fat girl who was pretty comedic and/or tragic. Hanako was it? Her and the one teacher who was trying too hard.

Pretty sure your thread should be re-titled because there have been so, so many of them. You just don't notice because they're unremarkable, part of the background. You know what draws attention? *Explosions and hot women. Nothing more, nothing less.


Really attractive characters are just easier targets these days so... I could think up and write a really intelligent analysis here but it's 10:30pm and I have no fucking idea.

Why not include women in video games that aren't conventionally physically appealing but are not over-the-top gross or outlandish.

There's enough flexibility and subjectivity to make this an impossible request. One guy's average is another man's drop-dead-gorgeous and a third guy's worst nightmare.

But when both genders are consistently fairly represented we can all stop reading posts like this....

Men aren't "fairly" represented either. Most games it's typical macho marine. So in that respect, they are kinda equally represented, as stereotypes.
