Limbo Of the Lost anyone?
Well we know where that went. Plagiarism is bad [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo_of_the_Lost#Plagiarism].

Limp Bizkit became really unpopular after the Lead guy made a racist comment while on stage at some festival.. They released their Greatest Hits album, Then another album with original content, but it sold very badly. Haha, you probably wont believe me but I'm not a fan of them either, only like a few songs. I really don't know how I this. I think i read this on Wikipedia while looking for information on John Otto, their drummer.
I thought it was because their popular guitarist left. meh...they seemed good at the time, but suck in retrospect...

Limp Bizkit was the worst piece of trash ever.

All the ones I was going to say are taken. How about Guns 'n' Roses? They were releasing their new album, and then, poof, gone.

Axel Rose was a little *****.
He'd end a show if they throw coins at him.
And he acted like a real ass hole.
Well, yeah, I knew that. But they just magically dropped off the radar. Not that I'm complaining much.

This may just entirely be me, but System of a Down were doing great. Next to everyone knew Chop Suey (Love it or hate it) and the controversial themes of their songs were always a topic of discussion somewhere.
Then they just kinda disappeared. Sure, Serj Tankian has 'Elect The Dead', but now some of the only conversation about them is 'Hey, remember System of a Down? They were awesome.'
Also, there's Rage Against the Machine. At their time, they were the shit. So many people loved them, and Guitar Hero III's promotion just widened their radar. So many people loved the funky tunes of Tom Morello, and then... They just disappeared. I know they disbanded in 2000, but aside from GH III, no one really talked about them, even when they came back together in 2007.
As I said, this may just entirely be me.
System of a Down are 'on hiatus' whilst Serj does his solo stuff and the guitarist (Darren Malakian, if I remember rightly) and the drummer (John Dolomayan, again, if I remember rightly) are focusing on their side project, 'Scars on Broadway'.
I've also heard rumours that a new RATM album could be a possibility...

Green Day? They had probably the biggest album of 2004, sold millions and were a household name everywhere, but I haven't heard anything about them since, well, probably 2005.
Green Day usually take a good few years between albums...

I loved Bigdumbface (the solo project that Wes Borland, Bizkit's guitarist, put together) it was truly funny. It made fun of black metal and the like. No idea what he's doing now.

A Global Threat, one of my favorite bands of old, broke up in 2007. I often wonder what they're up to now. I know that the lead singer Bryan Lothian has a solo project but I don't know about the other two.

Dare I say The Simpsons? I personally lost a lot of interest around series 11 and actually prefer to see repeats of older-but-great episodes on Channel 4 rather than repeats of newer-but-kinda-lame episodes. Despite my own preferences I also feel that, while I'm sure many millions still watch it, The Simpsons has had it's heyday... so you can't really say it's disappeared but since the 90s and maybe early 2000s The Simpsons hasn't really been a hot or even lukewarm topic.

Of course, when I think about it there is a lot of these 'falls from grace', some gradual, some almost instantly, all inevitable. Too many to bother writing about at the moment though.

Faith No More, they were huge and disappeared.
well as a huge Patton fan, let me fill you in. FNM got really big in the early 90s with Real Thing, once Angel Dust came out, which Patton wrote a lot of it, they lost some ppl because it was different. then King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime came out and by that time Jim Martin had left and so had someone else. finally Album of the Year came out and they decided to call it quits after that and broke up. Patton went on to reunite with Mr Bungle and form Ipecac Records and also form the Fantomas and he's been cranking out the music ever since. the rest of the band kinda went into obscurity, sides the drummer who drums for Ozzy

The hiatus is extremely long though, must admit. Hope to see them back together, they owned.
Also, hope those RATM album rumours are true.

Guns n Roses released a new album recently. It was crap. It wasn't even GnR, it was Axel Rose and a bunch of other guys. Want GnR? Listen to VR (Velvet Revolver). Unfortunately, they sacked their singer a couple of months ago.

Yeah, the hiatus has been how long now? And the stuff that they're doing at the moment doesn't really compare to SOAD at all.

And I hope the RATM rumours turn out to be true, they really are/were awesome. The vocalist for RATM said that they weren't planning to release an album 'any time soon'. So the possibility's there...

Whatever happened to Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers? Not that I'm complaining, but...oh wait, that's just my clairvoyance again. Darn.

Yeah, the solo stuff doesn't compare. I mean, Empty Walls had that video of children re-enacting 9/11, but the controversy didn't really add up to releasing a song about a suicide bomber 2 week after (Before/After?) the event itself.
