this doesn't seem that far fetched. espescially with the resent rise in revolutions in the middle east, no reason why e.g. tibet won't follow suit.

edit: revering to it starting in china as a civil war. quote went missing

Israel probably, if we have a WWIII that is, although I can't see Europe fighting against America...

Mutually assured destruction ensures that a war between great powers is unlikely. Which is why I'm totally for nuclear proliferation. The more nuclear nations the better.

No country would have the balls to start it, but if they did, every other country would just destroy them. The world depends too much on other countries for things to start WW3, so for a country to do that would be suicide.

Think people are underestimating humanity's love of war here. Nukes wouldn't even need be involved, even if a war should start no one's stupid enough to cause the eventual end of the world. Conventional war, if you ask me, is still very much possible, but then I don't think it could happen any time soon, simply because of the way the Earth is politically now days. If a strong aggressor DID rise though, it may be different. Wars in themselves will always be fought though.

World Wars generally need Europe to be the genuine WW. World War China isn't that interesting and WW Americas is just boring. African World War has been going on wen the white man came. All-consuming wars will not happen again, unless there's an extra-terrestial influence present...

No one knows. Any World War is pretty far away, and there's no way to tell where it would start. Remember, during the 20's, people had no idea at all that Germany could build itself into a superpower and take on the world. Just because a country is weak now doesn't mean they will stay weak.

On the other hand, strong countries don't have to fight each other. During the Cold War millions of people, my father included, were certainly, absolutely CERTAIN that the USA and the USSR would fight each other. Never happened. So just because China and the US are the main power centers of the world today (or will be soon, China is on the rise), it doesn't mean they HAVE to fight.

So no one can tell.

I don't know where it would start, nor if it would happen at all. But saying that a large-scale war can't happen because of global economy... doesn't sit well with me. The system of pre-WW1 treatys were meant to accomplish exactly that: that no country could attack another one without breaking at least some of their treatys.
Now, the Situation is different: I'd like to think that people aren't as keen on war as they were back then. And nations are bound together by Economical Reasons(aka money) instead of treatys(aka word of honor).
But that is just a snapshot, a moment in time, and we can't really foresee how culture will change in the next few years. All it takes is a fascistic, war-hungry movement in a country with a large amount of Industrial and millitary might.
All in all, humanity has often shown that it didn't learn from the past - and for the threat of mutually asured destruction: I wouldn't bet on it. I'm not sure if the threat of destruction will stop someone who is sure he's well protected - it doesn't matter if that feeling is grounded on facts, or that someone deludes himself into thinking that his missile defense system with a tested success rate of 92% is going to deliver that performance in an emergency.

Feel free to gut my statements.

First two were Germany's fault.....I feel good putting my money on them for a third round.
Uhh, no. Germany did not start World War 1, they just got the shortest possible end of the stick in it. The whole of Europe started world war 1, and had the Treaty of Versailles not been so vicious and had the whole of Europe accepted that they had all been twats (not something countries generally do), Germany would not have started World War 2.

E3, Los Angeles.

In a year at some point in the future, all four main platforms, PC, nintendo, microsoft, and Sony, will have an equally brilliant year for exclusives. If it happens the resulting fanboy/girl rage will start as riots in LA, before spreading quickly via the Internet to every gaming-active nation on earth.

I think the US will continue it's foreign policy of "take whatever you want, whenever you want from anyone, regardless of who dies so long as there's money in it" and the whole world will get tired of that fat imperialist tumor and will all unite to destroy it.
*Sigh*

For one thing, that's hilariously naive. For another, almost every country that would possibly unite has not only been imperialistic, but far, far more imperialistic than the US ever was.

Also, fuck verizon. Fuck them for making me watch a fucking ad before I can post, and fuck them for making that ad a piece of shit. Verizon, I will never buy anything from you, ever. Go fuck yourselves.

My prediction is Australia... 50-100 years from now, when Nuclear power becomes the norm, the rest of the world (Actually, probably just America) will want our Uranium deposits. The Australian outback contains the worlds larges supply of Uranium, around 23% of the worlds total supply. However, these deposits are located in Aborigional (native Australians) sacred ground, and are therefor legally untouchable (currently).

So, America, I've begun growing my personal army of battle Echidna. Your move.
