It's not really wrong to depict reality. A movie about sexual abuse of children and the immensely damaging effects it can have on them could be artistically justified in showing the abuse in all its repulsive cruelty, to help get its message across.

What's wrong disturbing and disgusting is depicting children in a sexual context for the purpose of arousal. That something is disturbing and disgusting doesn't warrant it be outlawed though, only harm to actual humans can justify that.

As a side note, it's actually perfectly legal to view and possess animated child pornography in Denmark.

Seriously though, this is just a way for people to feel safe, we can't stop child abuse until it has already happened and that frightens people into making laws like this and punishing people who read manga or create it.

We can't curb human nature and for a species that has made it it's goal to dominate the natural world that is a very disturbing reality, one many want to hide from or atleast blame something for.

This is no different from the people who blame violent videogames and movies for shootings or prostitutes/pornography for causing rape.

But it is that kind of view that creates a hostile and negative area for people like me, who do not wish to harm children, but find animated drawings arousing. It is the same argument I hear all the time that "I don't hate gays, but I don't feel they should have equal rights". It is using your morals to persecute others.

My innocence I think collapsed reading all this. Since I was young I never thought about the long run of translators or even reading manga translated by such. If they're going to bust one, there's going to be more, then the readers, then the publishers, then all will be banned and burned.

Seriously, take a deep breath and take a step back and define your lines better justice system. There's right, there's wrong, but there is the unknown area that needs more then one look over and this would be the one. I'm against child exploits in all forms, but I'm sure that's not what the creators had in mind-nor the translators or the publishers!
