I have several, and I really liked the Ranger Compound but it's really infeasible to use, so I sorta stuck with megaton, tenpenny after I slaughtered everyone, that place where you turn in fingers for good karma, and uhhh...not the bed and breakfast but...eh, fuck it's been a long time, but someplace like that bed and breakfast.

None of it compares to fallout 2 where I had a SHIT load of amazing things in the Klamath Falls mall area with the rats and requiring a key to get to (or lockpicking (or kicking down the door)).

It had several shelves and several lockers, and I had all sorts of things organized by weapon type, by harmful drugs, consumables (food, radx/radaway, etc), ammo, armor, etc...

It was awesome. I still have the saved game somewhere... ^^;

First time, I kept all my stuff in the Citadel because I didn't know you could get a house... This time around, Megaton...

I'm based in Megaton, just because I have absolutely no imagination.

Main 360 character: Megaton AND Tenpenny Apartment.
2nd character: Homeless, evil bastard.
3rd character: Tenpenny Tower.
4th character: Usually in the Abandoned Sniper Shack.
5th character: Tenpenny Tower.

PC:
Main character: Tenpenny Tower, but mostly lives in my own village outside Fort Independence. Free Power Armored Outcast guards anyone?
New character: Own village in the Scrapyard, though I do have a completely unused Megaton home.

My PC's main character, not long after starting. Wasteland Scarface! (The pile of cash is now MUCH bigger.)

Does gear not dissapear after a few days if you leave it in random places and containers?

I thought Megaton and Tennpenny were the only safe spots?

Or am I too used to playing Oblivion?

megaton, i would take the sniper shack or a house in arufew but i'm too lazy to lug all my stuff to a new house on a save file i've already beaten.

now that i think about it a satacom relay would be a good place to use, maybe the one with the two different ones connected by a plank of wood, would be good since it has the mine lawn gnomes

or maybe the one with the mini nukes you can drop, world domination means you have to be able to drop nukes without walking miles to get to the switch.

edit:
if i had the pc version and the mods to make a place i would have a doom fortress, my own minions, a computer in the main room so i can release gas or unlock cage doors with ghouls in them, an area to hold my favorite things sort of like the room with the T-51B armour room.

and i would often spawn enemies outside to try and get through my base and die horribly from the turrets firing and burning them all alive and if that didn't kill them i would.

well i have no idea how mods work so creating this would probably be a problem since most mods might not be able to do this.
i just might make that...

I made my own. It's pretty much an abandonned house, that didn't have an entrance at first, but I gave it a door and interior and put stuff like My First Infirmary in it. But without mods I used to store stuff all over the place, depending on save, I remember some house in minefield that had this little puppet house in which you could store stuff. I I also used Megaton a lot.

Now that I think of it I also made a vault, called Vault 1, "Presidential Vault" or whatever, it's a 1 person vault with a robot butler (protectron, not a Mr. Handy), pretty cool if I may say so :D

Also: holy crap I'm such a geek...
