Third, stop posting in rants. Again these are for the OP to get a badge.
This post sounds like a bit of a rant imo...
OT: stop posting the "How famous am I" threads. if you have to ask your not popular...
Sorry if it sounded like a rant. Also, I agree with what you said. Those "Am I cool enough to be noticed?" threads annoy me a bit.

Oh come on!

Everybody loves badges! :3

[small]well I do...[/small]
I just get annoyed when 4 out of 5 posts all seem like a "I really want a shiny new badge so post here!" thread.
I think that's what the Forum Games section is all about.

I even went there to badge hunt, so I'm not exactly innocent but I'm over it now. I got my "On Fire" badge unexpectedly anyways.

Op, I don't think you really thought this out as well as you figured you did when you started posting this.

Can't think of anything else.
Rendering the post useless, except for the bad joke at the start.
Was it worth it? Was it really?

I honestly don't see where you get the right to tell someone where they can and cannot post.
If they want to respond to a specific thread, and the thread is within the site's rules, there is no reason why they can't post in it.
YOU don't have to post in it, so, if you don't like one, don't. I see no reason why you dislike threads like those getting high posts, because if you don't like it, you can ignore it.
This is suggestions of how to cut down on trolls and duplicate threads. Not a "You must stand in line" thread. You people take stuff to seriously.
Considering that 99% of threads are duplicate threads in some form, I fail to see how stopping the ones that you notice more than others.[footnote]Troll threads are the exception, but most of the time, the ones I'm thinking of get locked/deleted rather quickly.[/footnote] I just fail to see why you feel the need to make a guide when you can simply ignore the threads you don't like, or feel don't need to be made.
And you probably missed it, but I edited my earlier post, saying that I didn't intend to be so inflammatory. I'm sorry if I'm still coming across that way, but I had/have no intentions of starting a flame war of any sort.
I may have taken it in anger at first because it seems like no one here really understand what I'm trying to do. I'm just trying to point out the fact that some threads are made purely to get the badges. I was in no way trying to tell people how to act.

I never intended to post anything here. One moment, I'm making an account just to take a quiz my friend asked me to do, next thing I know, I'm coming back here every free moment I get.

What have you people done to me?

Anyway, I'd post in a thread if I think I have something intellegent to add to the overall discussion, or if I could directly answer a question, no matter what kind of thread it is.

Heh... "something intellegent"... Maybe that's why I have so few posts.

Again, I was making this to suggest to stop encouraging the making of troll threads and duplicate threads. So if all you want to do is yell at me for what I wrote please don't post here.

Darn...people are stealing my "The Users Guide To A Successful Thread" but don't post about things that other people don't like.

Pretty crap guide man. It seems like something you wrote in 10 minutes. If you could spend more time on it you could have made this sort of official. For example, take inspiration from Sass' guide to leaving the site.

OT: Don't talk about Halo here and pretend you love Valve if you want to survive your first year.
FOR THE FORTH DAMN TIME! THIS ISN'T REALLY A GUIDE! God, does no one read posts before they post?

EDIT: FOR FURTURE REFERENCE: If you are just going to troll about how the 5 sentences I wroted are bad just leave now.

I'll post in every thread if I can contribute to the discussion. This includes obvious badge-attempt threads and threads that have been done very recently. If there is no discussion value then I may point that out but not likely. I try not to feed the trolls but I'm not as good at recognizing them as many of you are. I've been on the 'Net for 12 or 13 years but I've only got about 2 years experience on forums.

Sorry but you put in your OP that it was an unofficial guide. It's an outline of do's and...well actually it consists of just don'ts.
But I have to agree with the Lord here; that guide in the hyperlink looks like some time and effort was put into it, it's what we need really as some people love being the attention whore of "I wanna leave, delete me, I'll offend you in anyway possible to get it done!"

It's simple really; use a mature minded attitude in posting.

Oh and Valve? They're alright I guess, still ticked that I missed their complete DooM collection the other week when it was selling for 6 quid for a day. I prefer GOG.com though

Wait what? Really? Are you sure?
Huh. Well, that's a first.

DAMN IT, now I'm all fuzzy and warm inside.
Damn you and your ability to make people feel good about themselves!
I think it's my avatar that does that :D.

Again, thanks for the troll message.
In which way is this trolling?
These threads might be opened because of a troll, but they can be interesting and fun, so why just dismiss that because the guy who started the thread was doing it for the wrong reasons?

Trolling-the posting of material to agrevate another person. There ya go.
