Eldar, of the Ulthwe craftworld. What can't you love about an army of farseers and warlocks? In the tabletop game, once you take the two compulsory troops choices you can have a seer council of up to 5 farseers (6 if you also have Eldrad Ulthran) and as many warlocks as you want. my 1500 point army has about 200 points of troops and all the rest in the ungodly massive HQ unit.
How in the name of Kaela Mensha Khaine do you get six Farseers when there are two HQ slots?

OT: I'm an Eldar player. They're an interesting army to field.
in the craftworld eldar codex the seer council can have up to five farseers and is counted as one HQ, and Eldrad Ulthran takes up the other HQ

I have always been a staunch supporter of the Iron Warriors. Great backstory and a good niche too. Stuck with them through thick and thin. I could even paint them! I also liked the fact that they had a legitimate reason for loosing it and falling to chaos. I also made a kick ass vindicator/leman russ hybrid which suited them down to the ground.

Iron within. Iron without!
what was their reason again?

I remember all of the others just not them....

oh BTW i would side with the Necrons or the Tau simply because i collect an army of both of them.
It was the fact that they were used time and again as cannon fodder to take down the toughest enemy strongholds with no acknowledgement of their efforts and sacrifices while the Imperial Fists swaggered around with clean shiny armour and perfumed hair with everyone singing their praises and admiring their fake tans and designer handbags....

Bitter? Me?

Those Imperial bitches!!!

Who do I side with? Well at a basic level I'd say the Eldar, because as elven as they are, they seem to want to AVERT crises more than anything else. At least from the little I know.

But personally, I'm with Iwata on this one: Blood Angels. Why? Because they were my first and favourite team in Space Crusade (laugh or troll all you want, there's no denying that's what got me interested).
That's how it started for me as well. I still have the game (and the Eldar Attack expansion) and we play it regularly at my games store. From Space Crusade I moved to 40K.

But yeah, Blood Angels in Space Crusade rule. Everyone else takes heavy weapons, I just take my team with bolters, bolt pistols, bayonets and melta bombs. Takes care of anything.
I remember playing an expansion at a friend's house, but I don't think it was Eldar Attack. It did have some nasty dreadnaughts though - there was one with four heavy weapons, that sucker did not go down easy.

Yeah, that'd be the second expansion, I think it's called "Mission Dreadnought". In addition to the new dreads, you also get new heavy weapons for the marines. Unfortunately, I do not own said expansion.

On a related note, my Imperial Guard Volistad 1st Scratch Regiment kicked Astartes ass this past Saturday. 6th game in a row that my Guard wins. Got another one next Saturday against either Iron Warriors or Necrons.

The Dark Eldar. There everyone's favorite Drug induced, slaving, and perhaps best of all, they are the biggest bunch of pimps in the galaxy.

Edit: Also, I was just reading that when the Tau first encountered the Tyranids, they sent an emissary to negotiate! And when he (innevitably) got gobbled up, they thought it had been a misunderstanding... so they sent another!

That is... awesome!
.....That is just an epic fail, man the Tau suck so much nuts, they might aswell all be prozzies.

Why anything but the Imperium? Man is always destined to win, regardless of whatever other side-races are introduced. They are the only ones who would even have the capacity to rule a galaxy.

The Forces of Chaos will just end up raping and destroying everything until there's nothing left, so they get bored, and either kill each other or, better yet AND more likely, turn against their gods for shits and giggles.

The Orks would do much the same, but probably be fine with it. However, they have no physical gods to turn against, so I suppose they'll just leave this galaxy for another.

The Eldar are pretentious, pompous, sanctimonious little space-elves who already had their chance at galactic domination and screwed up royally. They should all curl up and die or join the Imperium... oh, wait. No Xenos, forgot. They should just curl up and die.

The Necrons will release their eldritch Lovecraft gods over-and-over again, like the cheating, game-breaking bastards they are, until they kill everything and tehy just go to sleep. Not a very good form of galactic rule.

The Tau are just upstarts with cool technology and none of the endless power of the Imperium. Honestly, if the Imperium didn't already have Chaos, Orks, Tyranids and everything else breathing down it's neck, do you think the Tau would have kasted as long as they had? Plus, they're Communists. They can't rule a galaxy.

The Tyranids will just eat everything and spit it back up before leaving.

Thus leaving only man. Man will win, as he always does.

I collected, modelled and painted Chaos and Tyranids for about 5 years when I was younger, so those two are my first and formost alliegences. If I were to side with a "good guy" *cough cough no one is good in 40k, not entirely* then it'd have to be the Iron Hand chapter of the Space Marines. Always had a thing for dreadnaughts...

Back in the day I collected and painted Death Guard Chaos primarily and by jeebus they were a ***** to paint correctly, let alone well.

I liked the orks when I played 40k many, many moons ago. They had a sense of humour.
Nowadays I have to go with my own species even if they are a bunch of retards. However, being an old 1st ed player I tend to ignore a lot of the newer developments of the 40k universe so my 40k is probably a bit different to the canonical version.

Space marines, specifically the Raven Guard chapter. They are basically ninja marines :p
