At the price of physical scarring? If you say so...

Well, I suppose in a way it's better than trying to find out Tzeentch's plans and going insane... Sorta.

The Imperial Guards and the Space marines. I love how they are the good guys, but there is nothing really good about them. Reasons? The Commissars of the Imperial guards are beyond awesome. Oh and the reason I like the space marines? Only their massive balls.

Don't know how to make spoilers but whatever :)

Space marines are holy badasses (i play Ultramarines). Hit hard, fast and can take a beating.

Tau go pew-pew a lot. Wich i like.

Ork are pure fun. WAAAAGGH!

Imperials crush you under numbers. Huge numbers, then tanks shows up, always in greater number and power than your own. Followed by gunships.

Hahahahahahaha! The Imperial Guard outnumbered? Good one.
Tyranids. Just a thought.
Sure, a planetary garrison on the Eastern Fringe would be outnumbered by the 'nids. But an Imperial Crusade is something else entirely. HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of men.

And a hive fleet is composed of Hundreds of Billions Tyranids.

Blood angels all the way, got rid of my stuff more than 6 years ago because it was way to expensive, so all i remember is deep strike, a special dreadnught (cant remember why) and the leader guy who was roughly invincible, you needed to roll a 1 for him to be hit.

My army wasnt quite standerd, i had a few custom guys, you know, with two heavy flames on each arm, and my prize creation, a space marine with tank tracks instead of legs, a tank gun sticking out of his chest and two swords (obviously needed).

Honestly it depends on how I feel. I have a spot for pretty much all the 40k races. My favorites will remain the orks and the guard however.

Grey Knights/Inquisition forces in general. Just because they're the biggest dicks in the room all the time. But my main army was Necrons. While yeah, you can argue the lifeless robots thing all day, I found their lack of backstory, and how old they are very stimulating to my imagination, usually because I could play their own history as I saw fit.

Besides, why would you arm your soldiers with flashlights unless you had more flashlight troopers than enemies?
Because those "flashlights" are complex laser weaponry that's easy to manufacture and extremely cheap and pretty much impossible to destroy by wear and tear. They're not the space marines and they can't go lugging around big guns that shoot rockets. They're just humans and they can be outnumbered.

Particularly by Tyranids.

Tyranids. Wonderfully creative biological story arc, infinite customization, and the ability to run across the board and onto the enemy in a single turn. FUN

Cause the Bolters cost a hell of a lot more to produce and the Tech Priests need more prayers for anything else.

In theory the Imp Guard are a high level fighting force in any universe. It just so happens the universe they're in is filled with Big green Bio-weapons, inscrutable Elf Ninja, Undead Hell automatons, Gibbering fanged monstrosities from beyond space and Dark Gods who eat souls.
Kinda make you feel a bit small.

If it helps, "only" the first 12 out of that list have actually been published yet, 13-15 are being written as we type. That should save you 15-20 bucks. :D

It's funny how this kinda reflects the tabletop popularity to a degree.

Where I live (Lisbon), the Space Marines are by far the more popular army, closely followed by the Tyranids. The Imperial Guard, Eldar, Chaos (Marines) Tau and Orks are about on the same level, and it's very rare to see anyone fielding Dark Eldar, Necrons or Chaos Daemons.

Mainly because those last three suck on the table top. Dark Eldar will spontaneously combust if you stare at them long enough, the Necrons will just up and leave if you know what to shoot long enough, and the Chaos Daemons will just sit in a corner crying while getting shot to pieces.

That was quite scary... for a while. The guy that I play more regularly plays Black Templars, and that whole "charge when shot at" thing usually works better for me than for him, as it just makes him abandon cover to get shot to bits by my 200 guardsmen.
