A Norwegian Death Metal band called Gorgoroth. I would post a video, but I might get banned. I mean, they have real goat heads on poles.

No Iron Maiden yet?! Da fuck?

Now, thats a performance :D
It's not my intention to be antagonistic, but whenever someone mentions Maiden, all I can think of is Henry Rollins' account of them.
All in good fun!
Haha yeah I can see his point, especially about the fans. Slayer fans are like that too. I dont like it, it's disrespectful.

And that's a pretty good impersonation of Bruce Dickinson. For a yank, that is. :p

Fixed that for ya.

And yeah, some black metal bands have pretty spectacular/ freaky shows. i used to love that kinda stuff, but somehow I've gown out of most of it. Still like a bit of 1349 and Satyricon though :D

I'm gonna change things up a bit and say Neil Young

Having great light shows and booming speakers is one thing but being able to captivate people with just one instrument and a voice is my definition of a great artist and a beautiful live show.

Well I have to say when I say them Metallica were better than a season ticket to heaven's brothel.

But for shear spectacle a special mention has to go out to Rammstien (Snot sure ive spelt that right but what the hey). Have you seen the pyrotechnic and stunts these guys do?! it's freaking awesome!

Reel Big Fish.

1. They are masters of all musical styles.

2. They do a cover of many great songs including "Enter Sandman", "Take On Me", and "Hungry Like a Wolf"

3. The lead singer/guitarist, Aaron Barret, had sex with Gwen Stefani

I would have included Youtube videos but I'm not as smart as some of you.

Muse. Anyone who has seen their show Live at Wembley Stadium knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Most Consistently Fun Show (4+x): Green Day.

Best Single Show I've been to:

$50 - Section B, Row 2

Pink Floyd - The Wall: February 7, 1980

I was there! I felt the mist of moisture drifting down from the ceiling
and thought it was all part of the show.

Quote from Pink Floyd Online about what happened that night:

On opening night at the Sports Arena, Los Angeles, California, February 7, 1980 curtains at the top of the stage caught fire when pyrotechnics were set at the start of "In The Flesh?"Sound engineer James Guthrie heard a crackling sound in his headphones and attempted to isolate where the sound was coming from. The sounds Guthrie heard were roadies who were attempting to extinguish the fire as Waters and Gilmour were dodging small chunks of flaming curtain falling from the top of the stage. When the fire became too much to handle Waters stopped the show at the start of ?What Shall We Do Now??

Waters:

Hold it a minute! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop. Stop the film. We?ve decided that the best thing would be to put this fire that we have up here out. We?ll scroll back to the beginning of that bit there and we?ll carry on when everything?s under control. Sorry but that?s the best thing to do?
After a pause?

Waters:

One. Two. Wasn?t that exciting? Ok, well as soon as we can [...] the house lights we?ll go back to that bit in the story where the moon was out, the clouds were going across the moon. We?ll go back to that bit in the story where the moon was out and the clouds were going across the moon. You remember the bit where there was a moon with clouds going across it? You remember that [...]. Ah, that?s the bit okay? Thank you very much for waiting.?
Many in the crowd thought the flames were a part of the show. Considering Pink Floyd?s reputation for theatricality the idea didn?t seem that far-fetched.
?The Show Within The Show?

The Fire Department came on stage and the smouldering curtain was lowered, released, and taken away.

Then they started the entire show from the beginning. As if it were a false start.

I've been to Muse once, and I have booked tickets to see Muse again.

I don't care they are three days before my exams, they are so fucking amazing that I HAVE to see them again. Seriously, I don't think a band could be better live than Muse.

Just saying.

Roger Waters performing Dark Side of the Moon is without a doubt the greatest show I have ever attended. I can't even put into words how amazing it was. Beyond that, Daft Punk and Crystal Castles shows are pure chaos and joy provided you aren't prone to seizures.

O.A.R. puts on great shows

they aren't big on the flashy lights or stage shenanigans, but their live jams are just awesome, plus they have so much energy

Having been to over 150 gig, I feel I am pretty qualified to answer this(still no expert, still havent seen Muse and loads of others), but seriously, no one beats Iron Maiden. I saw them 2 summers ago on the Somewhere Back in Time tour, otherwise known as the most awesome show ever. And it was so amazing worlds can't describe.

Honorable mentions - At The Gates, Metallica, In Flames, Gojira, Pendulum(saw em on Tuesday), Opeth, Firewind, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Korpiklaani(most siprisingly awesome band live ever).

Go see any of them bands and you wont be disappointed.
