Do you mean those Jewel cases?krazykidd said:Ps2. They have a slot for the memory cards . Pretty awsome . And it gives proper protection . The worst are the first ps1 cases . You remember the giant ass plastic/glass cases that would shatter under any pressure . The smaller ones were a little better but i mean the giant ones.
Gotta agree with you there on the N64 boxes. They look great, but they get ruined too easily.Matthew94 said:The N64 boxes are pretty bad as they are made out of cardboard.
I too, love the 3DS boxes.
Do you mind if I ask you why? I personally have an odd affinity for VHS quality, but I have never met another person who liked VHS more than Dvd.A Weakgeek said:Because VHS > DVD
So were the the GBA, GBC, GB, VB, SNES and NES boxes. I think they had cardboard inserts that helped fortify the boxes and hold the carts in place but they just didn't really last long if you weren't really careful with them. So for the worst cases it's a blanket statement pointing at every Nintendo console before the DS and Gamecube.Matthew94 said:The N64 boxes are pretty bad as they are made out of cardboard.
Eh, nostalgia mostly. Few movies (Like the original starwars trilogy) just seem to belong to that-nowdays-ever-so-blurry-looking quality. Kinda for the same reason why TV still runs at 30fps eventhough other video mediums have evolved past that.wookiee777 said:Do you mind if I ask you why? Ah, I see. I suppose it's similar for me. I was lucky enough to be a kid around the time DVD was replacing VHS (Late 90's to early 00's.) So I do remember watching a lot of movies on VHS. Or maybe it's because I'm a history/old stuff nut.A Weakgeek said:Eh, nostalgia mostly. Cases on the other hand... Thats a different story. VHS cases are just so manly! A grunt like me doesnt need to try and push my fingers into the little things on the sides of a dvd case, on VHS you can grab it however and just pull with your thumbs. They can also almost fit a DVD case which is manly. Also when I was little, I built buildings for my actionfigures by arranging VHS cases vertically and horizantally to make walls and ceilings and... Nevermind
If properly made, the tin cases are awesome.Daystar Clarion said:I really like the special edition tin cases
Shame a lot more games don't use them, but I suppose they're more expensive to make.
The long-boxes were definitely awkward but I liked most of the PSX cases since you could stick them with your music CDs if you had the right CD...display...rack. Games with multiple discs were a bit trickier like Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7 - 9. The CD-display thing I had only had 3 XL spaces for those types of CD cases so that was a bit annoying.Matthew94 said:Pretty much, plastic is a necessity.
