Nirvana, not bad but horribly overrated. Their silly grundge stole the spotlight from Jeff Buckley!

Rage Against the Machine: "The govorment sucks! All corporations are evil and suck! Fuck! Anarchy!"
I'm going to kill you. Well I can kind of see your point with Rage Against, they are rather hard to listen to due to their style, but Nirvana! Dude, who can't like them? Kurt Cobain is my second favorite man in the world.
Anyone who can't handle being famous and richer than the Queen needs to be dug up and killed again.

Anyone who is a millionaire but doesn't bathe or wash his hair needs to be dug up and killed again.

Sorry, Dude. Truth is harsh.

EDIT: Since I actually half-like Nirvana (just not Cobain), I'll say Nickelback.

And Pink Floyd; I had to listen to that shit in high school. Yes, I get it: you're high. Big deal, everyone I know is high. People who can't even read are high. It's really nothing to brag about.
Okay, you do enough heroine to make whinehouse look easy and then come back to the conversation with courtney love on your arm and see if your sane. Plus the guy freaking started a fanboy group with one song.

And Rage against the machine isn't that bad either. The lead singer had a little jamican in him. Go ask a jamican to do something with his hair and see if he doesn't knock you out. Also most of their songs are different which is good. Mostly due to tom morellos guitar which has me humming "Sleep now in the fire" and "Renegades of Funk". And they didn't promote anarchy they were more for having a less corrupt government, less extremes. Which should be good in practice shouldn't it?

Sorry, what I dislike is far too much nowadays. So I must unleash it in one furious post.

Daughtry, Fall Out Boy, Buckcherry, A Perfect Circle, Nickelback, Blink 182, Simple Plan, Trapt, My Chemical Romance, Three Days Grace ("Pain" is like the worst contribution to the mallcore and emo stereotype ever), Coldplay, Hawthorne Heights, Linkin Park, Hinder, Seether, Good Charlotte, Stone Temple Pilots, Black Light Burns, Atreyu, Foo Fighters, All American Rejects, 30 Seconds to Mars, and much, MUCH more.

This concludes that if you haven't guessed, I dislike the modern day rock stations a LOT. I'm a metal fan, which unfortunately is steadily declining in the mainstream radio. The biggest hits for it have been Metallica and their god awful attempt of an album St. Anger, and Ozzy. Now I have nothing against Ozzy, I love him and Black Sabbath, but honestly, I'd have better luck listening to one of his albums then waiting impatiently through everything I hate playing over, and OVER, just to get to one particular band or song I like. It seems like there's a bigger and bigger imbalance in Radio Stations now, between varieties of music. All of the good classic metal of the past is abandoned and seldomly played, any 90's hits have their own day and time so they can air time, while more and more music and new BS gets played over and over and over. God forbid they actually take advice from a caller who wants to hear something different or play a band who doesn't get ANY air time with their singles.
What's worse is the local scene. I've heard of one, maybe two bands I like locally tops. Everybody else is going with a "extreme metal" genre, or something along the lines screamo and emo. Now I like melodic death metal, even some black metal, and even psychedelic doom metal, but christ, everybody who tries it locally fails miserably. Not to mention they barely get any air time, and when they do, it's past midnight, or it's less than an hour.

They are going by what makes them money not the quality.

I know! It's horrible.
Yeah but not all of those bands are terrible. I do enjoy some linken park but then again thats probably just me. Seethers single Fake It doesn't seem to bad. Dead and bloated by the stone temple pilots is awesome and no more sorrow by linken park has a epic feel to it. Hinder gives me a few kicks when I want to feel sad and lonely for god knows why. And well I guess its just me but I like nirvana dearly and it seems i'm the only one that likes foo fighters here.( pretty much a nirvana but without kurt, basicly what made nirvana nirvana.) And QOTSA which i think i read that dave drummed for them and I love that band too...

I don't think they're terrible, and I don't have anything personal against them. I just don't like their music. If anything, I like at most one or two singles from them, and I'll credit them for that. I won't bash them for it (though I'll bash some bands eventually, just because I enjoy poking fun at things), but dear lord, the mainstream gets worse and and worse.

And to Ultrajoe, ever hear of Maximum The Hormone? >.>

I think the problem with mainstream is everybody does the same thing and everything sounds the same.

They are a bit. Not much though.

Gosh, what an uptight pretentious bunch of wankers many of you are. Does it really upset you that someone mislabelled a genre or insulted someone's hair?

Oh Rah, "Band" is Post Industrial Thrashcore, ACTUALLY. Balls.

On topic, I loathe "Ting Tings". I want to punch that woman in the throat. I'm not immensely fond of all the bland indie paff that seems to be popular nowadays either. Music for people who dislike thought or stimulation. Ugh.

Okay, you do enough heroine to make whinehouse look easy and then come back to the conversation with courtney love on your arm and see if your sane. Plus the guy freaking started a fanboy group with one song.

I feel a little less sane even contemplating that. (The prospect of doing cocaine being roughly as disturbing as the thought of Courtney Love anywhere about my body.) My point still stands, however. Anyone committing suicide while on top of the world is beneath my contempt. I'm willing to accept his fan base as proof of talent - but that would put him significantly below Halo in terms of art - and not even on the chart with Mariah Carey. A disturbing concept, no?

And I've nothing against RATM, it's just not my preference in music.

We can say with a certainty that hanging out with courtney love is just plain stupid.

And no problem about rage.

I for one wouldn't have a clue about any of those things, so I suppose I escaped being an uptight pretentious wanker through ignorance.

I guess ignorance really is bliss.

seriously does it REALLY matter? I mean they are all sub genres of freaking sub genres...loosen up man, I wont say you're a pretentious wanker but unless you're in a niche group of fans of that sub-sub-genre then it really doesnt matter at all

EDIT - I see everyone bitching about dragonforce...Why? They are only popular now coz of Guitar Hero 3. For what they are (speed metal apparently) they really aren't bad, maybe thats just me but I like them, sure the singer can fuck right off half the time but compare it to 90% of the other stuff thats "mainstream" and ill take them and the shitty singer.

I happen to be a massive freebop post cool jazz fan and we all know how much I love my hard acid modal fusion!

EDIT: Everyone hates Dragonforce because they are shit. They cant play their stuff live and their songs are 6 minutes of mindless scale pounding shread. People like them simply because "Dey r gud @ shreading ad dey play rly fast lawl!"
