Which game series has the best music:

I don't know if anyone has mentioned them before, but pretty much all the Black Isle games have amazing soundtracks. Especially Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate II (personal favorite) and the Icewind Dale series. Deeply atmospheric and immersive.

Oh and yeah, World of Goo and Machinarium.

The Silent Hill series. Akira Yamaoka is awesome.

Absolutely. I love the fact that the Silent Hill music is wonderfully creepy and ambiental on it's own. I have a lot of friends who were startled when I told them that this music was actually made for a video game(s).

Hmm... I'd say the Halo series, the Metroid series, I liked Bioshock's choice of music (does that count?) and also Mirror's Edge, even though it isn't a series... yet...

Shin Megami Tensei hands down, in my opinion. Followed by Silent Hill. Old Final Fantasy is pretty good too the newer ones.... Tidus's laugh will be in my personal hell.

Eh, I liked Dancing Mad in Final Fantasy 6 more. It is good and all but you know it kinda doesn't work without a scene with him involved in it.

Really, I don't like Final Fantasy that much... I just heard this song when my friend was playing it... Loved it though!

Some of the older Sauerbraten music was incredible, but now it's basically nonexistent. Such a shame.

Other than that, Vortal Combat is my favourite game song at the moment.
