BIOSHOOOOOCCCKKKK!!!

For the three-hundred and sixth time, Bioshock.
I think I might buy a set of Bioshock-logo stickers, stamps and business cards so whenever I see this question I can stamp someone, stick a sticker on their clothes and give them a business card.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade. That game is pretty much a moving painting. A painting of ninjas
which makes it art how?
OT: all games are art ;)
You didnt explain why you thought all games are art. I dont see why I have to explain myself if you dont.

All games are art. Some are good art, some are shit art, but they are all art. They are all deliberately set up in such a way that you have a sensory, emotional or intellectual effect on the player and they are all made with skill or imagination (to some degree). None of them serve any purpose other than themselves, even the FPSs or whatever else, as nothing you do has any effect on the real world. They exist for the sake of being played, that's it. You could say that tournaments are an exception, but not really. You have competitions with paintings as well, but that doesn't stop them from being art. The whole argument is based on nothing at all.
That's actually very true when I think about it. Essentially, games aren't neccasry in life, in the same way a book or a painting isn't necassary. However, it is preffered to be in possesion of it.

OT:Games like The Another Code/Trace Memory series and Skies of Arcadia count as art in my opinion.

Another Code is essentially a Novel with puzzles here and there to make the player feel involved as well. It's a damn good novel too.

Skies of Arcadia is a story about adventure, bravery, and friendship. And it has pirates. In the sky.

I'm just going to say I consider all games to be art. If the Hallucinogenic Toreador in my living room is considered art, then I would wholeheartedly submit almost all games as art. AQ notable example, would be the Colour My series on Newgrounds. Those are flash games that are undeniably art.
how is madden art then
Even though I despise Madden, I'll tell you that Madden could be considered art, as it is a production of a specific type of media, that conveys an impression of what sport would be like if EA had their way. Stupid ruling decisions made by incompetent referees, new rules to make passing to the right players illegal, stuff like that.
Same as Dali gives an impression as to what the world is like in his noggin.
