My personal problems with JRPGs lie with their rabid western fanbase who has convinced themselves they are the greatest games ever made and ever will be made and therefore must like every single one with them. Thus if I dislike the game for a good reason or point out a flaw I'm just called a "JRPG hater" and that I just "don't get it" despite playing them for years and years.
