I don't get the bashing myself. The games are good, if you are into that sort of thing (I am a a bit), so why are they the butt of every joke out there? I think ZP is a reason - everyone wants to agree with him in case they don't get invited to his birthday party

Yeah, because it isn't possible for someone to hold an opinion different to your own for valid reasons. Nope, they must all be getting brainwashed by Yahtzee.

I find the people who write off JRPG's tend to be the same people who say things like "The movie's subtitled?! Why would I want to read while I'm watching a movie? I'll watch something GOOD instead."

Similarly, I'd bet that half the people who hate JRPG's haven't actually played one.
But if they want to deprive themselves of an experience they might enjoy, that's their problem.
