Wow, that was... unexpected. I'd like to think I'd take a more subtle approach to a situation, rather than rushing in all guns/swords blazing/swinging, but an outright sex symbol? Huh.

ZPs ok and all but what grinds my gears is the fact everyone uses Final Fantasy as basis for their argument, I love FF and all it's abominable offspring but it's not the only JRPG ever made.......It's not even the best JRPG ever made.

but it is the best known therefore the most likly to get attention from western markets just like Halo/COD are used as the basis of bashing the FPS genre

Point taken but may I ask? I know this is irrelevant to the topic but do people really bash Halo/COD? Halo is......O k, maybe even great but it certainly didn't suck and COD well....cant remember the first few titles (there here somewhere) but Modern Warfare was pretty cool. If anything should be use to bash FPSes it should be the bastard tide of copycats that followed.

The White Magic Girl

Seriously.... wtf. The support part I get, as well as the lack inpractical clothing and staff for a weapon, but I answered unhesitantly to kill my defeated enemy - it is bad form to leave one's enemies alive so that at a later crucial moment they can come out of woodworks and make a mess of things for me.

So on the whole from the gender issue and some major mental differences, this does fit me to a degree.

I disagree with Yahtzee when he's wrong, which happens quite a lot. But I don't think it can be denied that his presence has made a significant impact on the community viewpoints of JRPGs, mostly in a negative way. I wish people would be more willing to look at the genre from a different viewpoint. I do agree with Yahtzee in that the gameplay elements need to be moved forward a bit so that JRPGs feel more like games than movies, but I will say that the genre is not dead. But it sure could use a shot of adrenaline.

BTW, Wild Arms is awesome. Especially the third game, WA3 kicks ass.
