I know what you meant. I am pointing out that what you meant isn't logical.

You are trying to claim that my claims or the terminology used to express those claims are offensive; I am pointing out that simply isn't true because what is said is benign.
Ignoring the context of your own words to analyze their meaning in a vacuum to rules lawyer why your insult isn't insulting is generally regarded in bad taste.

Why do you find that offensive?
Because you're comparing a group of people to dogs, implying they're like animals and because you see them as 'half-breed' it implies some level of inferiority.
Human beings are, by definition, animals.

Animal populations with a broad genetic base are, all other things being equal, the hardiest and most viable.
Ah that clears it up. I'll go on and call all females "bitches" now - hey we are all animals, so they shouldn't be offended, right? But why don't you try it first, you know, practice what you preach and all.

Well ok here's a little challenge for you; go up to someone with mixed ethnicity and call them a mongrel, see what happens.

You're calling people of mixed ethnicity a loaded and derogatory term. It's like calling someone from Pakistan a 'Paki' or someone from China a '*****'. Sure they technically mean the same thing but they're not the same are they? It's the context behind it.

You are being offensive, though. You deflected the racism statement with your generalization. You're not denying it to be offensive in racial context, but why should people descended from a multitude of nationalities be any less offended than a member of some race being called a mongrel or half breed?

And generalizing Americans as the most racist people is equally as offensive as categorizing people by race and assuming arbitrary traits about them. It's committing the same error.

Joseph Capelli has black hair

Goku has black/blonde hair

Sweet Tooth doesn't really have hair, but his scalp appears to be on fire rather frequently, if that counts

My monk in Diablo 3 is completely bald, but his beard is black

Jim Raynor has black hair

James Heller is mostly shaved, but what little of his stubble is visible appears to be black

Emmet Graves has black hair (And a glowing blue arm, FYI)

My Pokemon character in Heart Gold has black hair

Link has blonde hair

Star Fox is . . . well . . . a fox

Those are just the games I currently have. If we were to count the games I've sold, that number is bound to be much larger.

This is a digression - and I mean you no offense by arguing the point - but this is really a fascinating discussion. A lot more interesting than the OP.

Being as he is named Mario and being from Brooklyn, NY, we'd assume that he is either the first-generation descendant of Italian immigrants, or an Italian immigrant himself. Certainly, when he talks, he speaks in a heavy, stereotyped Italian accent, and uses Italianisms ("Mama mia!").

The term "white," to me, is uniquely American. It does not apply to Europeans who see themselves through the lens of culture. It applies only to American mongrels who have nearly no culture at all.

I firmly believe that Americans are the most racist people in the world (with perhaps one exception beyond the scope of this thread), because they see every difference between groups through the lens of race.

No - culture, not race, is what makes Mario what he is. That Mario is white-skinned is no more significant comparing him to Max Payne than Lei Fang being Asian is comparing her to Oda Nobunga. Mario is an Italian, not a white guy.

I think there have been some portrayals of Mario with brownish hair. But his mustache is almost always black - a quick Google shows this - and Italians in general have dark hair.
...i find it funny how you are calling americans racists when Europeans (especially British and French, and i say this with the utmost respect for the British people) are openly racist and are proud of it. Or countries that have at MOST two distinct groups in terms of culture, race, or religion and cant get along at all whereas USA has EVERY single race, culture, religion, and idealogy under the sun in one country and we more or less get along (tolerate might be a more accurate term).

even the Japanese are more racist than Americans, although i will give them a pass because they rarely interact with foreigners whereas it is impossible for me to go an entire day without seeing people of every race.

Obviously we have our racist fringe groups, but every country has that.

Everything we say about hating the French/Germans/Americans/Australians/Everybody else, is just us playing around.

man...it must be nice

we cant play around with that. If an american says they hate X group they are generally not kidding because those that would kid about that would never make that remark in public as they would be hanged by the public.

thats the problem with extreme political correctness in the USA.

well...hmm..i guess that is not totally true. Americans and Canadians often rib each other in jest

No it's not, 'mongrel' typically applies to dogs so calling a group of people mongrels is just being offensive. It's like calling someone a half-breed.
Why do you find that offensive?
Because it is offensive. What you said is a bit like saying 'well, ****** is a word derived from a word for 'black,' so it makes sense to call black people ******.' It doesn't matter what the word specifically means, if it has racist connotations then you shouldn't say it to people.
