Who did you root for when watching Death Note?

Hi everyone, just wandering who was your favourite badass genius boy when watching the anime, and why. Reason I'm asking is beacuse every time I comment the series with someone, people more than usually favour L, which is not per say a bad thing, but I was always much more of a fan of Kira.

So, who's your favourite, and why?

I didn't really care, up until Near came in.
I hated his character so much, I had no choice but to root for Light.

I rooted for the weird demon guy until I realised he had no major part in the story.

I didn't really root for either Light or L, I just enjoyed seeing the two of them constantly outsmarting each other. That is until Near showed up, ruined the show for me, and made me root for Light.

Light. If I were in his position I'd do the exact same things (well, almost. I wouldn't have gone for the smarter girl).

I loved both L and Light equally, again Near ruined the show for me...though the last episode was tear-jearking, hard to watch Light go insane really...they were both amazing characters...and so was Matsuda god dammit!

It kept switching around, and I loved the battle, but overall I think I was kind of rooting for L.

I rooted for the girl with the obsessive crush on Light. ^^ She was very awesome.

Then I decided I would root for the tennis ball from when Light and L played tennis, hoping it would come careening on screen to one day kill light in the most horrific and gory of ways to get it's revenge, for being a tennis ball.

In all seriousness though I was mostly rooting for Light

I was rooting for Light up until Misa appeared and he started treating her like utter crap. Next thing you know i'm wearing a giant L shaped foam finger.

Yeah, Misa. You know... those outfits and the boobs and all that goodness. heh.

But seriously, I liked L much better than Light. Light was ok in the beginning. A little delusional and extremely full of himself, but what teenager isn't? Then he just went nuts. I suppose its an effective illustration of "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

I'd say I supported Light until eventually he just went too far beyond the boundary of insanity. Plus he was cruel to Misa.

After that I didn't really support anyone, just enjoyed the show. I always hated L, and then when he was replaced I hated his successors too. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Light succeeded though...

I rooted for Light and then wanted him to kill near I HATE near.

Light was an asshole, and not in an amusing way. I actually *GASP* liked Near more than him. I didn't overly like L, but I didn't dislike him at least.

Not Light, that's for sure. He was a jackass and a villain. Truth be told, I had trouble rooting for anyone in that series.

I was rooting for Light. I know, he's the villain and all, but still, he was cool. Just that one mistake...
