You paired a biostar motherboard up with a GTX680? Why? They're bargain basement boards that do not have a reputation for reliability.

I have a '98 Compaq laptop, 3 gig harddrive and a whole 32mb of ram. I took a soda to the keyboard and still works like a charm, how many laptop owners can say that?
Clearly, your laptop is basically Superman. I doubt my rig would be able to shrug off a can of soda.

I'm the only 7970 owner in the thread :D

I picked it up in December of 2011. It was the first time I bought a flagship card and paid a premium for fastest single card solution at the time. You can pick a 7970 up for around 400 bucks and I paid 530, but I've been enjoying the hell out of it for almost a year and a half now. What sold me was how much actual in-game performance increase you see from overclocking and how much headroom it has in that area.

It's actually the first ATI/AMD card I've owned since the 8800GT came out. Before that I had an ATI X1900 I got in like 2004 or something... pixel pipelines, lol.

I personally believe that tech only needs to be as power as the purpose its serves (un)luckily for me my employment and hobbies means I have a need for my ludicrously over the top tech :)

Must admit it makes my wallet hurt sometimes......

Very similar to mine what did you think of the Board? I loved the way it covers up most of it.

It does look sick, but functionality wise some connectors are hard to get to. I have big hands, so that could just be a personal problem. As far as it being "thermal armor" I have a pretty solid liquid cooling system (h100, totally forgot to list that) so I can't really say for certain how well it works. That said, I'm afraid to OC past 4.5 on an ivy bridge. It's ok, because the performance is just fine @ 4.5, but I could push my old 2600k to 4.8 on the same rig. It's only really good for benchmarking purposes, in games or running simulations in R you cannot tell the difference.

yeah I have an h80 on mine overclocked to 4.4, the x.m.p profiles made it so easy to set the ram up also :D

OS: Windows 7
CPU: Core i7-2700k @ 4.8Ghz (Watercooled)
RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3
GPU: 2xGTX 580 SLI @ 880/1712 (Watercooled)
MoBo: Asus Maximus IV Gene-z/gen-3
Storage: 256gb Corsair force GT SSD / 2x1tb seagate barrcudas
Case: NZXT Phantom 820 (White) w/ apollish vegas red fans
Water cooling: Custom loop with 2x 240 extra thick rads, 1x slimline, 1/2" tubing, koolance 450S pump, EK cpu and gpu waterblocks

Screen: A couple of random samsung 24" (they are LED but nothing special)
Keyboard: TT Esports challenger pro
Mouse: Coolermaster Inferno (for fps), molten razer naga (MMO/RPGs)
Headphones/Speakers: Steelseries Siberia V2

I consider it fairly above average, when I built it the gtx 580 was the most powerful single gpu graphics card so back then it was well above average to have 2 of them.

I love the idea of watercooling and case mods so I'd use it even if I didn't overclock.

The highest I got my 2700k to was 5.22Ghz but it was 100% stable, I've yet to have a problem with it at 4.8Ghz.

The GPUs are pretty close to their limit, atleast with my current cooling solution.

I haven't run into a game yet that I can't max with all options including the highest AA, pretty much when I load up a game, I go to the options and max every slider, setting and drop down menu lol.

I don't like to brag but that bad boy can just about max out Half Life 2....

So can we get a pc master race badge please moderators :)

Also there's no better feeling then maxing out all the settings on a brand new high end pc game, its the only reason i bought shattered horizons and most crysis games :p

I can't max Bioshock Infinite on mine, turns out putting surround on with Ultra details really starts heating up my graphics cards =D

Yes bioshock infinite was a gorgeous game and it look so much better on pc at max detail then it did on xbox 360 which looked like its graphics settings where comparable to the pc settings at "just above mid range".

Im playing it on pc and my house mate played it on xbox 360 so i got to see a good comparative between the 2.

And heat is a bastard when it comes to graphics cards, the entire reason i changed back to a NVIDIA card on my gaming rig and put my old ATI in my work rig is because i couldn't stand the heat the damn thing created when i was gaming.

So NVIDIA more expensive for the same power as ATI but SO MUCH QUIETER AND SO MUCH LESS HEAT!
