Ok so I notice that more than a lot of people I know bash the Gamecube. The biggest reason for this being that it had no good games. To this I call shinanigans. I freaking loved Smash Bros., Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, and Wind Waker. I even liked Mario Sunshine and that Starfox game with the dinosaurs. Don't ask me why I liked them but I did. So I wanna know, did anyone like something from the Gamecube?

Sorry I just needed to correct that...

I didn't own one but the times I played one it was great fun and quite ahead of its time.

It just didn't have the support of the PS2.

I second your shenanigans. The Gamecube and its games were the shit. That's what made the Wii so disappointing.
Im going to pistol whip the next person who says shenanigans.

I loved the Gamecube, one of my first consoles (may even have been first, but doubt it. My memory isn't all that good...). I hate the Wii though, a real shame. At least we have the 3DS coming, that's gonna be awesome!
The controller and CDs got some heat, and not without reason, but I don't really find it all that hated. The games were great, everybody knows that!

I love the gamecube. its by far still my most favourite console. It was much easier to carry around than the PS2, and a lot of the best PS2 games didn't come out until the nearing end of that generation whilst the gamecube had experienced brilliant games throughout its lifetime.

The gamecube has so many of my childhood hours spent on it (this part of my childhood being just after my 9th birthday up til just after my 13th, however, it has continued to recieve a lot of love up to even now as a 17 year old).

I've have fond memories of games such as
Pokemon Collosseum
Harvest Moon: a Wonderful Life
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Megaman Network Transmission
Fire Emblem: path of Radiance
Ikaruga
Tales of Symhonia
Paper Mario: the thousand year door
Legend of Zelda: Windwaker
Pokemon XD: Gale of darkness
Mario kart: Double dash
Legend of Zelda: Four-sword adventures
(The) Mario Party (series)
(Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog and Resident evil 4 aswell, but those also came out on PS2 at the same time... but i much prefer playing them on GC regardless :p)

and this is without stating the many re-vamped remakes such as the Resident Evil Series and the Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, which are also brilliant.

maybe i am just very bias though, i spent so many hours with my friends on so many of these games and would not have traded a minute of it. Sure, i've had fun with the PS2 and maybe thats even getting more use out of me at the moment (My friend had Persona 4, one of the few games worth playing left to be played by myself... also i need Shadow of the Collosus) yet i still have sunk so many more hours into the Gamecube... its just a brilliant console.

EXTRA- and i can still think of many games on the Gamecube i would love to play: the metroid trilogy for a start, Mario Sunshine... yes, i love the gamecube but have actually never played mario sunshine :) see how much more i've yet to experience!

I, and my boyfriend, both are Gamecube fans. And I still play Mario Sunshine to this day. After Mario Paint, it is my favourite game.

Skies of Arcadia, Tales of Symphonia, and Eternal Darkness are all in my top 10 favourite games. And it also had Beyond Good and Evil, Time Splitter 2 and 3, Smash Bros. Metriod Prime 1 and 2. Fantastic console.
Plus it was super light and even had a handle on the back, helpful!

The problem with all of the titles you've listed was they're all first party. Now, I have nothing against good first-party software, but the main issues with the Gamecube were twofold:
1. The third party support for it was pitiful at best - as you stated, most of the best titles were first party;
2. Nintendo's refusal to adopt the widespread storage format of the time: the DVD - by using a smaller disc they limited the space available for developers and made it very difficult for multi-platform releases to make it onto the console.

I loved my gamecube. I think one big reason was because it reminded me of my Dreamcast.

It was good, I loved every second of playing games on it. But it sorely lacked in 3rd party support after a point and the PS2 pretty much destroyed it. No two ways around it.

I liked it, was a solid console with a decent graphic and a standard setup of nintento titles.

The Gamecube is awesome, the slim version though kinda sucks.
was there a slim version? i did a google search and the closest thing it yeilded was a purple dreamcast, which i suppose you could mistake it for... unless of course you're using some code for the wii, which is still kinda misleading... Plus, the Wii is within itself a different console that is capable of playing gamecube games.

anyway, i mostly posted to just smile and express my joy for the love the gamecube is receiving. I'm glad so many others think its brilliant too, even if it can't play DVD's

I had the most fun with the gamecube next to the dreamcast, of course.
I liked the feel of the controller and enjoyed a lot of the games on it.
As for lack of DVD support, is anybody really bothered by that with consoles? I turn on a console to play a game, and I have a DVD player to play DVDs.

Gamecube > WII
and i can say that because i own both. I'm still slowly adding to my gamecube collection
but it's tough since i can only find a few secondhand games.

few decent titles, but lack of quality games and again third party support made the console somewhat a waste of money for most

only games I liked (that was Gamecube exclusive)

Luigi's mansion
Resident Evil Remake
Eternal Darkness
Smash Bros Melee
Metroid Prime

Ahh.. The Gamecube the console that promised so much yet delivered so little outside of Japan
