It was the only console I owned for a good five years (I didn't even get an original Xbox till after the 360 had already released), so yeah, I liked it.

I enjoyed the later Mario Parties (5, 6, and to less of an extent 7), and the Metroid Prime games. Also, Kirby Air Ride.

KILL THE HERETICS... Ahem, Sorry about that my inner fanboy is trying to get out >_>.

Seriously though It's easily my favourite console, I still have it today and play it more than my DSi, Xbox 360 and PC combined.

I adored all of these games:

-GOTCHA FORCE
-Killer 7
-Super Smash Bros Melee
-Resident Evil 4
-LoZ Wind Waker (Yes not only do I love it, it's my second favourite Zelda ever.)
-Super Mario Sunshine
-Mario Kart Double Dash
-GUN
-LoZ Collectors Edition
-Metroid Prime
-Star Fox Adventures (I loved this game despite its horrible reputation.)
-Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
-Soul Calibur 2
-Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
-Metroid Prime 2
-LoZ Four Swords Adventures
-Super Monkey Ball
-The Simpsons Hit 'n' Run
-TimeSplitters 2
-TimeSplitters Future Perfect
-Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes
-Battalion Wars
-Turok Evolution (Yes I actually enjoyed this game =D.)
-Burnout
-Burnout 2
-Star Fox Assault
-F-Zero Gx
-Viewtiful Joe
-Pikmin
-Super Monkey Ball 2
-XIII
-Prince of Persia Trilogy
-Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
-Skies of Arcadia Legends
-Worms 3D
-The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction
-Spartan Total Warrior
-Hitman 2 Silent Assasin
Pretty much what he said, with the exception of FFCC.

Hell yeah I liked the gamecube. It was my first console. I still remember that I had a choice of game between TLoZ:Windwaker and Mario and Luigi: Superstar saga. I got the cube with one of those Zelda Collector's Edition discs so I got four awesome Zelda games for FREE. Such a good deal. Now if only Majora's Mask hadn't frozen after I beat the ice temple.... Man, I loved that cube. Good times.

The gamecube was a powerful little system that didn't get enough support for my liking. I owned one, bought the games I thought were very good for it, was rarely disappointed by the games for it.

But, on the other hand, the long wait between games I wanted to play was excruciating, during which I was more than enjoying the PS2's support. Particularily in the last year of the cube's cycle.

Also, OP, when someone says 'No good games came out for it' learn what hyperbole is. They really mean 'Very few good games'. And this IS true. When your customers are waiting months for something playable, your console's selection is dry. Even if that something playable is great... the rest of the months they're playing games on other systems.

I loved the gamecube I still play it's games sometimes. THe reason people judge the GCN I find is because it's got a long history. So all the nostalgia fans say "well it wasn't as good as the SNES or the N64" even though the graphics are vastly improved along with gameplay enhancements for most games and just a good library of fun. Yes it didn't have as much support as the PS2, but you don't hear people saying that the PS2 wasn't as good as some other 32-bit console. What a silly comparison

I beg to differ really, I found a load of awesome third party titles. Metacritic alone lists 127 titles with an 80 or higher, the vast majority of them not first party titles. Hell the 2 best ranked titles aren't even from Nintendo, Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4.

Then there's Starfox Adventures (no old Starfox fanboys, shush, down), Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem Shame, Viewtful Joe, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and I could keep going like that for a while. Thanks to it being a traditional console it had lots of good multi-platform games, unlike the Wii for example.
Well, Metroid and Starfox are both Nintendo properties, so I don't really consider those third party although their development was outsourced (actually, at the time of Starfox Adventures, Rare was a second party dev, not third.) As for your other examples, fair point. I never got to play many of them due to a chronic lack of money, but I did get Eternal Darkness and it was pretty damn epic..

The Gamecube is awesome, the slim version though kinda sucks.
was there a slim version? i did a google search and the closest thing it yeilded was a purple dreamcast, which i suppose you could mistake it for... unless of course you're using some code for the wii, which is still kinda misleading... Plus, the Wii is within itself a different console that is capable of playing gamecube games.

anyway, i mostly posted to just smile and express my joy for the love the gamecube is receiving. I'm glad so many others think its brilliant too, even if it can't play DVD's
I was referring to the Wii, it was a joke. The majority of great games on the Wii are Gamecube games like Wind Waker, Pikmin 2, etc...
hehe, don't worry, i just suck :p i find the best wii games are the ones that use a controller...

If my GameCube were still working, I'd be still playing it. I loved my little black lunch box (yes, it was black, not purple) and I loved pretty much every game I had my hands on. I think I finished Eternal Darkness like 5 or 6 times, also Metroid Prime wich curiously, it wasn't mine, I never bought Prime 1 and I finished it like it was mine, 2 different people lended me a copy of the game and I finished it on Hard and 100% like 3 or 4 times each.

And yes, I admit that I did enjoyed StarFox Adventures and I dare to say that I finished it 4 times. Wind Waker was simply awesome and it's graphics have aged gracefully, it still looks much better than most HD games today. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes still has some of the very best real time cutscenes I've ever seen in any game, sometimes it's like watching a Matrix movie with Snake instead of Neo.

Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door was awesome, although I've never finished it, because my sister deleted my save and I reached the last boss... I was so pissed that I simply couldn't play the game again.

I could go on and on, I think the Cube was a great system and it was unfairly overlooked by many people, just like the N64. I still haven't stumbled upon a single Nintendo system I don't like.

EDIT: Now I feel the urge to repair my Cube... I always wanted to play the TimeSplitters games and I want to replay many of my good ol' Cube games so bad...

Gamecube is fantastic. It introduced classics like Metroid Prime, Resi4 and brought seminal Dreamcast classic Skies Of Arcadia among so much more.

I saved up all my paper round money to buy a Gamecube and its fair to say that I loved it. It did have some amazing exclusive titles but that's really all it had, a handful of amazing titles more than likely featuring one of Nintendos franchised characters. But it had no 3rd party support which severly limited the amount of good games available.
So I did what any sensible kid would do and saved up my pennys again and bought a PS2 a console that everybody owned and had great fun with it. I still played my Gamecube when an epic game came out but mainly stuck to the PS2.

I love the GameCube. I still play it quite often. Tales of Symphonia is my favorite game ever and I've gotten so much out of SSBM and Kirby's Air Ride.
