Personally I thought it was about as good as the N64. I liked MGS: The Twin Snakes, Smash Bros. Melee, and I really want to play Tales of Symphonia.
DO IT! FIND THAT GAME AND BEAT IT!

And then beat it again.
And then start looking for all the alternate routes to the story (Tip: YOU CAN KILL THE ANNOYING SEXUALLY AMBIGUOUS MAN!)

It was awesome, but not as good as the SNES
THIS

I really do like the Gamecube but it just can't compare to the amazing console that is the SNES.

F-Zero, Starfox, Mario Kart, Super Mario World... You can't beat that line up!

Ok so I notice that more than a lot of people I know bash the Gamecube. The biggest reason for this being that it had no good games. To this I call shinanigans. I freaking loved Smash Bros., Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, and Wind Waker. I even liked Mario Sunshine and that Starfox game with the dinosaurs. Don't ask me why I liked them but I did. So I wanna know, did anyone like something from the Gamecube?

Sorry I just needed to correct that...

I didn't own one but the times I played one it was great fun and quite ahead of its time.

It just didn't have the support of the PS2.

I second your shenanigans. The Gamecube and its games were the shit. That's what made the Wii so disappointing.
Im going to pistol whip the next person who says shenanigans.
I know its probably been done but.
Shenanigans

It's what got me in to Resident Evil 4. To this day I have the PC version, regardless of how bad the port is haha...

I loved it.

Nearly every Zelda game available for a home console was playable, all the best Sonic games, Metroid's 3D transition, a decent Mario Kart and Smash Bros as always, decent F-Zero, Soul Calibur II Link Edition, Resident Evil remake...

What's not to like??

Edit: Oh and MGS Twin Snakes! One of the best remakes of anything ever!

I own a gamecube and enjoyed the games I had for it (SSBM, wind waker, metroid prime, etc) however it felt like a static piece of hardware. What I mean by that is that before nintendo decided to take a completely different route on making consoles the gamecube was simple a new version of all the consoles that they had before.

Worst still when internet gaming was starting to take its place in the gaming world nintendo flat out refused to participate, effectively telling the consumer what they should want, and not supplying them with what they wanted. Added to that their refusal to incorporate dvd compatibility at the very least made it for some hard to justify purchasing.

Because of that, and their very hostile attitude towards 3rd party publishers (although that hasn't changed much over the years) the gamecube didn't do as well as it should have. it had better hardware than the ps2 and was significantly cheaper than the xbox so should have done better. But still I did have a good time with it while it lasted. Now I'm am part of an elite :D (pc gamer baby yeah!!!)

I love the gamecube and never fully understood why people hated it so much. Maybe the name and the system itself just came off as boring. The only thing with the word "cube" in the name that people seem to like is that damn "Companion Cube".

Anyway, games I like include: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, SSBM, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2, Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault, Star Wars: Jedi Outcast II (or something like that), Kirby AirRide, DoubleDash, Soul Calibur II (the only good version of the game), Gauntlet Dark Legacy (also only good version with usable inventory), F-Zero GX (damn hard), and a few others I can't remember without looking.

Lot of games for the cube that are WAY better than some of the stuff we get nowadays.

You, sir, are win.

I've been waiting for someone like you.

Someone who sees the gamecube for the genius invention that it was.

Counting all games you've listed, plus F-Zero GX, Mario kart: Double Dash!! Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Zelda collectors' Edition, Sonic Adventure DX and Adventure 2 Battle and even Pokémon Colosseum.

Gamecube will continue to be a legend in my eyes.

It was my first current-gen console, and it was awesome. Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Twin Snakes, Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia (for those of us who didn't have Dreamcasts), Thousand Year Door, Resident Evil 4 (though the Wii remake is better), Melee, and probably a few other things I still need to play were great. Honestly, the fact that that was considered weak and a failure is a testament to Nintendo's quality.

I absolutely loved it, and even though I have a Wii now (or did have a Wii, seeing as I'mn at university now 'n all) most of the time I used it to play my Gamecube games. Well, with the exception of Okami. I played that game Waaaay too much. :D

I love my GameCube and I still play it all the time.

It also had the most comfortable controllers ever.

Hell, I spent larger part of the night listening to shitty music and playing Resident Evil Zero...

Gamecube is good because:
1) Metroid Prime 1 + 2
2) Wind Waker (you could get majora's mask and ocarina of time as well)
3) Mario Kart Double dash
4) Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
5) Super Smash Bros.
6) Rightful home of Resident Evil 4
7) The discs are small and cool
