No mention of a Pheonix Force powered Jean Grey yet? She can pull energy from the future and alter timelines on a whim.

Doctor Manhattan would kill everything. He IS indestructible and he makes things die by pointing at them, He could probably kill Galactus with ease just by changing him into snow or something like that.
But he's limited by what's physical. Sure he can manipulate atoms. But any of the Endless could crush him like a bug.

this is indesputable in the comic book world.

And after this, the Beyonder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyonder)

For more normal characters, you have had The Sentry, Ghost Rider, Sorcerer Supreme (whichever one), Captain Universe... all of whom are intensely powerful, but usually have a reason NOT to use those powers. Mephisto is probably more powerful than that, as he can rewrite time.

So... in the Marel Universe, it goes something like this:

One Above All
Death
Beyonder
Mephisto
Sorcerer Supreme
The Sentry
--various Gods--
Ghost Rider
and then probably Galactus or Thanos...
I think you're neglecting and mixing up quite a bit there.

Galactus is more powerful than any of the gods. He's a lot more powerful the the sorcerer supreme. I'm not really sure about the the beyonder. But all of the Celestials are pretty much the next step down from the one above. And didn't Thano's go through a story arc in which he became indisputably, the most overpowered being in existence?

I also would hesitate in saying Mephisto is stonger than Galactus. If memory serves he didn't quite manage to defeat him, even after bringing him into his own realm.

And I don't think the ghost riders penance stare can canonically do Galactus in.

God..... that all sounded so nerdy.
Ha, nah, that's cool.

In the original Secret Wars arc, Beyonder is supposed to be almost omnipotent. He flicks Galactus away without seeming to think about it.

In the "World War Hulk" arc, it's commented a few times that Dr Strange can kill anyone at will, and that only his morality and fear for his soul stops him from doing so.

ALSO, when Strange looses the title of Sorcerer Supreme, which eventually goes to Brother Voodoo, he fears that Dr Doom may get it, causing him to be the "most powerful being in the universe". That's open to interpretation though.

Mephisto is an odd one... I mean, he rewrites reality in this book:

So I'd put him as pretty powerful. Galactus is a being from a former universe though, he may be immune to reality rewriting.

I'm never sure about the Gods. I mean, they go from being slightly overpowered beings into being, well, Gods. Perhaps it's best to ignore them?

And Ghost Rider without Johnny Blaze, insofar as the essence of Ghost Rider off of the least, is supposed to be all of the powers of hell. I DO have an image for that, but it's getting late :p

Jack Kirby. Because he's The One Above All and because he was badass in real life.

Otherwise? I'd say probably Superman, there's actually an image macro showing why he's more powerful than other heroes, specifically the anime heroes.

New age Green Lantern(s). They have no more weakness to yellow, are only limited by their own mind, have an entire army at their back, have the Guardians at their back, oh and they can kill enemies of the Corp now.

I'd say Green Lantern. I'm not much of a GL reader, but from what I know, the Lanterns' basic power is only limited by their imagination. And the colour yellow, of course.
Post-Parallax GL doesn't have a weakness to yellow anymore. Early in the training of new lanterns they learn how to overcome it. Basically its fear. No fear = no weakness.

Dr Manhattan and the Sentry
if we include anime Goku and Alucard could be up there

isnt there ment to be like an Unlimited Superman or something which is god like in power?
Props to you for knowing who the Sentry is.

but I have to disagree with Goku, he does die.
Alucard though... I would kill myself if I learned he was real (and like the anime character.)

Thor.

He's not my favorite, but I will concede that he's the most powerful. I'm sorry, I don't care who brings what else to the table, Thor's a fucking God!
Seconded. The God of Thunder will win. He's immortal. Even Superman has a pretty easily found weakness. I'm not that great on my superhero lore though, so if Thor does indeed have a weakness, do tell. I'm intrigued.

Goku/vegeta

Let's face it people, these guys could destroy galaxies by the end of z, and if we count GT...

Prtty much only time/space/reality warping can beat them.
Definitely this.
Goku is just...Deus ex machinima embodied.

Yup, Batman, he beat the shit out of superman,

You might call kryptonite cheating, but Batman calls it Batman-ing

So he'll pretty much just Batman all over any superhero you can think of,
Except the Wall. Dr Amanda Waller can out Batman Batman and without gadgets too.

But "powerfull" is a different thing altogether. I really am not nerdy enough to answer that. Maybe Dogwelder?

Superman is because when he got killed by Doomsday he came back stronger, and it has been proven that each time he goes into healing hibernation he gets only stronger. So yeah after Doomsday he is hands down the most powerful superhero. However Batman is the "best", but "power" wise superman is the best the guy can literally whup Goku's ass.

The scouters Vegeta and his minions wear when they came to earth were actually dubbed 'Geiger counters' in our version. So Goku is actually radiation in human form and will give cancer to us all.

how about.....The Spectre? He God's vengeance personified

"The Spirit of Vengeance, Spirit of Redemption, Avenging Wrath of God, The Man of Darkness, Raguel"

and his powers:

"Divine mystical enhancements granting virtual omnipotence, although the true scope ranges from the dictates of the Presence.
Knowledge of events before the Crisis on Infinite Earths"

he, in the DC universe, was responsible for "the Spectre was the Angel of Death who slew the firstborn Egyptian children."

and he razed and killed the population of an entire country he deemed guilty of murder, has power over matter, time, life and death...and he was part of the Justice Society of America.

other powerful superheroes would be the Phantom Stranger (unkillable), Resurrection man, Booster Gold (time travel, can change the time line if he really wanted to), wave rider, Sandman (the god of dreams from Neil Gaimans Endless), Captain Atom (the DC universe counter part of Charleston Comic's Dr. Manhattan), Captain Marvel (or Shazam! ), the Flash, Ion (Kyle Rayner before he restarted the main power battery, he had near omnipotent powers, control over space time and can resurrect the dead)
