And if you don't wanna narrow it down, feel free to give your favorite from each generation. For me it's

Gen 1: Hanter
Gen 2: Sudowoodo
Gen 3: Tropius
Gen 4: Froslass
Gen 5: Volcarona
Gen 6: Hawlucha

My favorite overall being Haunter. There's just something I've always loved about him. He's kinda got that Batman's Joker thing going on where he can be silly and threatening at the turn of a coin. His design is incredibly simple, but visually interesting, something I always admire.

He's just cool, and fun, and he has floating hands and he's purple and I love him.

How about all of you?

Funny, I just started plaing the LeafGreen remake of Gen I. Mainly out of nostalgia. Favorites for me

1. Squirtle and Blastoise; I don't like wartortle. I think it's the ears, they just look stupid for me. Squirtle is adorable, and blastoise is a freaking tortoise tank.
2. mankey and primeape; puffball pig moneky kung fu masters. What isn't awesome about that?

Mewtwo is probably the coolest legendary, but then, it's pretty much the only legendary i remember besides mew, which is cute as hell, but isn't as cool.

There are like three birds in Gen I, right; Zapdos and two others?

Okay, let's do this.

Gen 1: Ninetales: I'll spell her name right one of these days. If I need a special-attack powerhouse, then there's no question that I'm gonna go with Ampharos. But I take Ninetales, too. I'm not that strategic; I just really like foxes. That said, sometimes I just want to burn things down.

Gen 2: Misdreavus: Super adorable ghost that pulls hair. Misdreavus is blue with a cute red necklace, so those are both pluses for design! I just like how adorable he/she looks and acts, and when pumped up with Shadow Ball and the ever irritating Perish Song (combined with Mean Look), Misdreavus is definitely in my corner. I didn't even want to evolve him into Mismagius (though that design does look okay) because Misdreavus is kawaii~ as is.

That's not to mention the adorable chirp she makes when you send her out (on the older systems, I guess?).

Gen 3: Metagross: Metagross used to be one of the main components of my team, but then it just sort of fell to the wayside (never could reconcile metal with the rest of my team). Still looks pretty swanky, and I like its typing. I just roll with Weezing if I want a defensive powerhouse.
And I actually didn't keep up with the more recent generations. :<

Okay, I did it! Where's my lava cookie?

Reshiram! All day, everyday baby! I like it's design, it's back story, and it's my two favorite types, Dragon/Fire combined.

If I had to make a top ten it would be:

1. Reshiram
2. Serperior
3. Samurott
4. Giratina
5. Charizard
6. Volcarona
7. Meloetta
8. Dialga
9. Xerneas
10. White Kyurem

Making a top ten was actually pretty hard. Making a favorite of each gen would be fun, but my absolute favorites would be left out, so yeah... I probably have a good top 30 or so now that I think about it. >.>

Gen 1. Blastoise. I have a thing for water type Pokemon and he's almost always the starter I pick. His mega-evolution is awesome as well.

Gen 2. Feraligatr. I don't like him for fighting battles, but he's awesome in every other way.

Gen 3. Salamance. My first dragon type and my all time favorite.

Gen 4. Luxray. One of the few electric types I like. It's like a bad ass electric cat.

Gen 5. Zoroark. One of the coolest dark types and that's saying something.

Gen 6. Tyrantrum. It's a God damn T-Rex. I gotta love it!

Gen 1: Pinsir. He's totally savage, and my favourite type, bug.

Gen 2: Steelix. I always had a fascination with Steelix. He's big, brutal, and my second favourite type, ground. As well as steel, of course.

Gen 3: Trapinch. He's the Pokemon most like Headsprouter, but I only really realised that in the past couple years. I always loved him before that. Glorious simplicity. My favourite Pokemon overall.

Gen 4: Yanmega. 4th Gen is my least favourite gen. But stuff like Yanmega give it a special place in my heart. Thanks for remembering, and for the most part (at least in my opinion) improving some old friends.

Gen 5: Scraggy. Interchangable with Scrafty. I need to say that in this case because I like Trapinch A LOT more than Vibrava or Flygon. He's not your ordinary dark type, such as Umbreon or Absol, which are praised by emo kids everywhere. He's a goofy little pantslizard, and he's sinfully cute. Gen 6: Barbaracle. This. [http://x3.fjcdn.com/comments/zependium+rolled+a+random+image+posted+in+comment+116+at+_e334a16b8fd51515149941eb7234bed8.jpg]

Magikarp. See, each Magikarp lays a thousand eggs. Each of those eggs grows up into an adult Magikarp. Each of those Magikarp lays a thousand MORE eggs. And if I can sell all of those Magikarps at the price I paid for the original one, I'll be rich!

I do really like Reeshiram... except for that strange crotch tuft of hair. I just can't understand how that got past the censors.

But anyways, here's my top ten, because I have troubles actually picking number 1s, so consider every one of these number 1.

1. Mega Medicham
2 Braixen
3. Slowking
4. Magmortar
5. Weezing
6. Chandelure
7. Bisharp
8. Pangoro
9. Electabuzz
10. Mega Banette

And yes. they should all be in that new pokemon fighting game coming out. Especially Weezing.

The issue with that is that due to the magikarp inflation, Magikarp will be worthless to buy... Plus, Magikarp show up if you tie a string to a stick, no matter where you go in the water. :p

On topic... as much as it is a sheeple answer, Lucario's been my favorite for 3 generations now. It's Smash's fault. Lucario's a fucking boss.

Growlithe is hands down my favorite Pokemon, and Lucario as my second favorite.

I will go out of my way to get one if I know that someone has it and I can use it in the game. He's so cute! :D

Zapdos and Typhlosion I can understand, 'cause they're awesome, but Weavile?

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit, it's not every day you hear people liking that Pokemon. :p

Runners up include:
Gen 1: Haunter

A lot of my favourites aren't big in the competitive scene, but I don't really play in the competitive scene so that's ok by me. I like pokemon for what they are, not for how many wins they'll get me :p

Gen 1: Alakazam.
It takes a lot of effort to try to catch a damned Abra, unless you're adequately prepared, and it requires a trade to fully evolve, but the payoff is worth it. Alakazam is a glass cannon, through and through. It's fast and has very strong psychic attacks, but its also very fragile. An overpowered king of the overpowered Psychic type back in Gen 1, still quite strong to this day even after Psychic was balanced. To top it all off, I love how he looks aesthetically, he really embodies the Psychic type.

Addendum: I'll also include Eevee as tied for first for Gen 1. I love all of the Eeveelutions to death, and though Alakazam outshines Eevee and its Gen 1 evolutions (only barely on Vaporeon and Jolteon though), later Eeveelutions are my absolute favourite, shout outs to Espeon, Glaceon and Sylveon, but that'd be boring to list the Eeveelutions for half the generations, so I'll just compile them all here under Eevee.

.

Gen 2: Crobat.
I always loved Zubat but Zubat and Golbats use in Generation 1 was... dubious at best. Gen 2 changed that. While Zubat and Golbat were still relatively useless (they are considerably more powerful today), Crobat was a beast, a beast who just kept getting better as the generations went on. Crobat is my go-to Flying type, and with the advent of Faerie types, his Poison type looks a lot more desireable, too.

.

Gen 3: Mudk- no. Not him. This one is a difficult tossup between Altaria and Gardevoir.
On one hand, Altaria is a beautiful Flying/Dragon type with a bit of bulk to him, and I'm quite looking forward to his mega-evolution in ORAS. On the other hand, Gardevoir is my go-to Psychic, even more so than Alakazam, due to the fact that she's not only powerful, but she's a decent bit bulkier too. Faerie type complements her very well nowadays but even before then she was a powerful psychic type to use.

.

Gen 4: Another tie between Vespiquen and Froslass.
The designs of both are aesthetically pleasing to me, both of them look unique and even sort of elegant in a way (in a weird sort of way in Vespiquen's case). Vespiquen is difficult to obtain, especially a Shiny variant, due to only evolving from a female Combee, which is very rare. I enjoy how bulky she is and how she has several signature moves no other pokemon can get, which sort of ties in to how bulky she is. As for Froslass, Ice has always been one of my favourite types despite how badly it has it in type matchups, and an Ice/Ghost type is a unique combination which I enjoy. She's also somewhat difficult to get, but a female Snorunt is easier to find than a female Combee. She has a nice set of attacks and, well, she's just awesome imo.

.

Gen 5: Cincinno and.... Garbodor. No joke.
Cincinno is cute, and doesn't feel like it'd be overall useful, and yet with the right ability it has a very fun moveset. Technician or Skill Link both tie in well to its very nice variety of multi-hit moves, Rock Blast, Bullet Seed and Tail Slap. This makes it a nasty sweeper if you can get it the stats it needs, since the combination of Rock, Grass and STAB Normal gives Cincinno a lot of choices. As for Garbodor... I initially hated it, I thought Trubbish was kind of cute while Garbodor was a nasty mess, but it grew on me over time. After a while I decided to actually use Garbodor. It reminded me a lot of Muk, who I also loved, and I found him fun to use. Now, Garbodor is one of my top picks for Gen 5.

.

Gen 6: Greninja and Helioptile.
Greninja is the only Starter final evolution I really truly loved. I love a lot of the first stage evolutions on starters, like Squirtle, Totodile and Treecko, and while I did like some of the final evos, I never really LOVED them. Greninja was different. I always knew from the start, before we knew anything on XY Starter evos, that Froakie would be the one I'd choose. Then I saw the leaked image of Greninja, and... I was disappointed. I heard that it was better in action rather than in that one still low quality image, but I just didn't see it. I was disappointed that it was going to be a ninja, for a start, and it just looked weird in that image. I was wrong. Greninja turned out to be an amazing pokemon with a very unique moveset, and it was beautiful in action. I am now pleased with all of Froakie's evoltions, and I couldn't be happier to have Froakie as my starter.

As for Helioptile... I'd just like to point out that Helioptile is my personal Pikachu. I think it looks absolutely adorable, and I refuse to evolve it Heliolisk. I just don't like Heliolisk. So I slapped an Eviolite on my Helioptile and took it with me on my first run through XY, and absolutely loved it. That thing single handedly took down Lysandre's Mega Gyarados, despite it being Water/Dragon, thus losing all of its weakness to Electricity, and his Gyarados knowing Earthquake. Clearly it wasn't as strong as what it COULD have been, but it really impressed me, and now Helioptile is officially the only pokemon I would never evolve.

Yeah, it is rather odd. I always forget it's there, but I do want to know what it's deal is. I know they omitted it from the Macy Float when it was first shown off, so they were aware it looked strange. XD

Greninja is my all time favorite. It's a awesome ninja frog, what's not to love?

1. Arcanine- I just love the design for it.
2. Feraligatr- The final evolution of my first ever starter so it has a lot of nostalgia for me.
3. Rayquaza- My favorite legendary.
4. Luxray- An electric type I actually enjoy. They have a tendency to make a lot of one stage electric types.
5. Golurk- I just get an "The Iron Giant" vibe from it.
6. Greninja- As mentioned above.

Kabutops: I was always rather fond of this one. It was uncharacteristically badass-looking for a Pokemon, but effortlessly so, unlike the overdesigned messes that were the monsters from Digimons, Yu-Gi-Ohs, etc. And that's what I love about good Pokemon designs - they are uncluttered, simple, and you can easily digest their design elements.

http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/5/52/381Latios.png/250px-381Latios.png

Latios: A kawaii, stealthy, sentient jet fighter? Gimme gimme gimme! People go apeshit over the idea of a talking car - imagine what they would do with a jet fighter that would cuddle with you. If there was one Pokemon I am allowed to have in real life, it would be this. I may have cried a little when it died in the movie.

Giratina: Banished by god for it's violence to a different dimension and treated by legends like the Voldemort of Pokemons? This one actually managed to be scary! Looks best in its Origin Forme. <url=http://aocom.deviantart.com/art/Giratina-117482866>This was my wallpaper for quite a while.

Typhosion: It's basically a giant honey badger. That can set things on fire.

Makes you appreciate the little things in life. Like not living in a world where there are giant honey badgers. That can set things on fire.

I'm quoting you because I like your format and am going to steal it entirely.

Gen 1: Lapras: It's the iconic surf pokemon, apparently. Plus it's just adorable. I'm not even sure Lapras was ever really considered viable for competition, but it's always been my favourite water pokemon.

Gen 2: Misdreavus: (Don't even need to change the picture here)

I like ghost pokemon. Ghost is my favourite type without a doubt. Misdreavus is a ghost type. Also, Misdreavus is adorable (which is the primary deciding factor for me when it comes to pokemon).

Gen 3: Blaziken: Without a doubt, Blaziken is my favourite pokemon of generation 3, and probably all of pokemon. This is the pokemon that started my trend of never taking my starter out of my party, balance be damned. Blaziken ruined any hopes of me ever playing competitive pokemon, and I love it.

I don't feel like any pokemon can top the fighting fire chicken in my mind.

Gen 4: Garchomp: I'll admit, I entirely skipped generations 4 and 5. But I love Garchomp, in both its ridiculous land-shark-looking design and the fact that it and Chesnaught carried me through much of Pokemon X.

Gen 5: Zoroark: It's a fluffy, kabuki-looking, illusion fox. What's not to love?

Not much to say about Zoroark. Never played Gen 5 or used many of the pokemon from it. Zoroark takes the spot for this generation solely on appearance.

Gen 6: Noivern: It's a bat dragon. A bat. Dragon.

Sadly, I only got a Noivern more towards the end of my time playing through X, so I didn't get to use him too often. However, he did replace Garchomp as my dragon on occasion. Plus, he's adorable in Pokemon Amie, and isn't that what really matters?
