It's really hard for me to pick a definitive favorite character.

Off the top of my head I'd say Sheogorath from the Shiver Isles. Maybe not an all time favorite but I sure did enjoy getting quests from that rambling madman.

Genuinely funny dialogue, good humour, the type of guy you'd love to go drinking with.
Man, I wish more people played that game.

Best ending choice ever.

My character from New Vegas, largely because it felt like he was in control of everything, playing everyone as if they were opponents in a game of poker.

Though because I was playing he was also massively incompetent with a tendency to murder old women.

Meanwhile a non-Bethesda/Bioware/Whoever else character would have to be Sean Devlin from the Saboteur, his accent may be awful but his emotions and wisecracks actually fit the gameplay in which he is often borderline immortal.

The Protagonist from Saints Row 2/The Third. Never has random psychopathy been more fun. If you won't let me pick them, then probably Pigsy from Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Still the greatest DLC I've ever played, was revealing his story.

Big Boss.

Solid Snake is cool and everything but I love the story and lore about Big Boss even in MGS1 which he has no part in at all, everytime he's mentioned it is awesome, Sniper Wolf calling him Saladin, Naomi revealing that Big Boss and Grey Fox are the people who brought her to America erc,

Batman from Arkham Asylum and City. If that doesn't count because he's really a comic book character or something then definitely the Team Fortress 2 Sniper, love that guy.

Kyle Katarn

Between that beard and the massive balls it takes to turn off your lightsaber and start punching a sith in the face mid duel he's the epitome of star wars manliness.
Y'know, I wasn't sure who to pick when I opened this thread, but the Chuck Norris of the Star Wars universe gets my vote too. After all, there's no chin behind Kyle Katarn's beard... just another Bryar blaster pistol.
Aw man, you ninja'd my "Kyle Katarn is the Chuck Norris of Star Wars" joke.

OT: It's hard to say. Kyle Katarn, Solid Snake, Raiden, The Joker, Geralt of Rivia, James Sunderland, Atlas, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Riku in Kingdom Hearts, Sephiroth, or (playing as) Sonic the Hedgehog. I could probably think of a few more. . .

EDIT: Oh, thanks to a comment a few spaces above mine HK-47. I had completely forgotten KotOR for a moment there.

Master Chief. He has a larger story than Noble 6, who comes in second. He has that aura of being too awesome for the Covenant to handle.

I've got to say that the most badass and probably the best character in video games is Ezio from Assasins Creed, I mean he single handedly managed to kill The Pope and kill tons of Borgia guards and also Cesare all while wearing his badass armour.
He didn't kill the pope, Cesare did.

OT: Raphael Sorel from Soul Calibur. I really like his relationship with Amy. Also, he fences. And is a vampire... like... thing.

I'm going with the Boss from Saints Row. Same person in three games, different appearance, and he or she beats people with jarred farts. Jarred farts.

Nice choice! He's my second favorite.
