I saw parts of the 1990s movie. I don't know which Doctor was there. I don't even remember it, I was only like six.

The first full episode I really remember was Doctor 9, in "The Empty Child". The Gas Mask zombies were a great villain to hook me in. That was in the eighth grade. I haven't stopped watching since.

Tom Baker: The Pirate Planet, from then I was hooked. I managed to catch many of the older episodes, all of Jon Pertwee's and most of Hartnell's and Troughton's to boot. I stayed with the series until Colin Baker and we just drifted apart after that.

David Tennant is my favourite first episode I saw was (dunno what the epidosde was called if it had a title) the episode where a girl rips down wallpaper only revealing words that read "don't blink" or "turn around!" "turn around now!". stone angels basically.

I would appreciate if somebody told me the name of the episode, I'd like to watch it again :)

The 1996 movie with Paul McGann. Like most of us here, I saw a few minutes of an episode when I was younger than that, but I had no real idea what it was and no clue what any of it meant. It wasn't until I asked a geek uncle of mine about Doctor Who that I got even slightly interested in the series, and by then, it was '96.

First right of passage for new Whovians: Finding out that the main character isn't actually NAMED "Doctor Who".

the ninth in "The Empty Child" I saw the last moment when I was zapping I didn't know it was Doctor Who until I saw the entire first season of the new series.
I don,t exactly know how I got into doctor who but my dad once told me he saw it on TV when he was younger.

The first time I saw Doctor Who that I can remember was watching Tom Baker in "The Sontaran Experiment" on VHS. Ah...memories.

John Pertwee in Invasion of the Dinosaurs. But Tom Baker was the doctor that I probably first started to watch regularly. And Peter Davidson remains my favourite Doctor.

Fully? One of the ones with Matt Smith, had some weird puppet people that walked around fairly silly-y.
Partially, that one where Rhinos take a hospital to the moon.

May have been somewhere between 3rd and 5th. A former friend of mine (turned backstabber due to another backstabber, long story) linked me to an episode that was basically fanservice featuring Daleks and how they were rooting through these British Airforce hangars in search of something. It also featured a regeneration at one point. I couldn't make heads or tails of the plot of that episode at all.

The very first doctors very first episode...it was a repeat they were having over in my country, but i didn't really start watching the eps until the fifth doctor came on. And then Sylvester Mccoy came into the picture, and my favorite Doctor of all time was cemented! ^^

It was very mid sixties England, and shot on a hilariously low budget, but it was pretty fun.
If I remember rightly, even at it's peak, the BBC gave it a budget of £50 an episode for ALL the special FX. ($21)

They really used to hate how popular it was. Well, a certain DG did.

I vaguely remember reading that. I kind of wonder how they could afford even a single Dalek for that first arc.

The worst thing is that it included the Radiophonic workshop, all the sound fx, which is how - allegedly - The Goon Show was canceled, because they were the next biggest users. Mat Irvine though, bless him, was always a whizz with shampoo bottles and the like.

Remember, no computers for another 3 years at least.

Similarly for Blake's 7

I vaguely remember Jon Pertwee back when I was (very) young. He was the third iteration of the Doctor (1970-1974). God that makes me feel old!

I was an avid fan of the good Doctor right the way through from Tom Baker (Doctor #4, 1974-1981) to the present day, although Tom Baker and David Tennant are my all-time favourites. I do remember seeing some of the original Doctors episodes when they were re-run on BBC as a special event to commemorate something like 30 years of Doctor Who and thinking that although some of the stories stood the test of time, the costumes and sets certainly hadn't! I also remember hiding behind the sofa with my brother because the darleks and cybermen scared the crap out of us!
